“First a vacation -- now good friends”
Reviewed 20 April 2013

We have been to other dude ranches, but after our first week at TRR, we have been going back every year. Looking forward to our fourth visit. Our daughter dreams of working there as the wranglers are role models for young boys and girls. The food is what keeps the 'foodie' in our house happy. Our daughter can't stay out of the 'critter pen', and I relish the 3/4 day ride to Hank's Hill on top of a mountain usually with a wrangler and a couple others. Like a good restaurant, the food is good and the location is nice, but the magic is in execution of service. Megan and Scott always have great people that make each year's trip unique and memorable. I am envious of my child's summer vacation dreams. If a dude ranch is on your family's list of family vacations, this is the ranch you can share your dreams of being together (yes it happens - with everyone happy and satisfied) for a week with no TV, computer or iPhones, yet full of drama, communication, adventure and beauty on a first hand basis. Simply said - organic family adventure and fun.

We went to Tumbling River Ranch last summer. It was our third time. The food was wonderful,
The staff could not do enough for us. My granddaughter was afraid of the horses and one of the staff stayed with her and led her around on a pony while we went on a trail ride. They have
activities for all ages. They have two romantic dinners with just the adults , the children eat together. Hoedown is a lot of fun for everyone just one of the many evening activities. We will return when our granddaughter gets a little older.

GREAT VACATION !!!!!!!

Room Tip: All the cabins are good. Quite at night in all the cabins. They are so much fun with an old look o...

Our family has vacationed at RiverTumbling Ranch several times . If you are looking for a vacation that has something for everyone in your family, this is the ranch for you. The children will
have the opportunity to swim, ride horses, hike, fish, river rafting and just about anything they would like to do. The owners and staff are friendly and will do anything they can to help you. Parents can opt to go with their children or do things on their own. The food is outstanding and everything is homemade. We will continue to make this ranch one of our regular vacations. Rooms are very comfortable and setting is pure Rocky Mountain gorgeous. Check their website for much more information.

Room Tip: All the rooms and cabins are decorated with wonderful furniture and comfortable beds.

We've been to Tumbling River every year since 2002 and will continue on! It's a fabulous family vacation that parents and kids of all ages will truly enjoy. The fact that there are no tvs is a huge plus - we even go the extra mile of making it a "no electronics" week for us all. Everyone is so busy with all of the great activities planned that no one will even miss them! Scott and Megan make you feel like part of their family and take wonderful care of everyone. If you're looking for a place where the family can reconnect, relax, and enjoy themselves and each other more than you could ever imagine, then this is the place for you. The scenery is breathtaking, the horses are fabulous, the fishing both on and off of the ranch can't be beat, the hiking is a must, the food is to die for, the hoe down is a favorite of the teenagers (seriously), the talent show is incredible, the wranglers are fantastic and the list could go on and on. This trip is worth every penny! Don't miss the chance for some truly great family time!

Scott and Megan run a first rate operation. This dude ranch is set in the beautiful CO mountains with 11,000 ft. elevations and a diverse topography with lakes, rivers, aspen groves, green forests and grassy plains between. The ranch itself is beautifully landscaped and decorated charmingly with very comfortable roooms and beds. The staff are mostly in their 20's and the kindest, friendliest people. They cater to all ages and have activities for everyone - even the tots. This enables everyone to get out there and have a good time horseback riding, hking, fishing, swimming, rafting, shooting, dancing and just relaxing. The wranglers were very capable and professional and the rides were varied and fun. (If you have the opportunity to do the overnight ride, it is worth it). The head wrangler, Dave, is extremely experienced and knowledgeable. They provide many helpful items for borrowing, such as riding boots and western hats and they have some basic supplies for purchase.
The food is cery good and they accomodate all dietary restrictions, including gluten and dairy free options. Prepare to be over-fed! They serve 3 hefty meals/day and have snacks (fruit and baked goods) and drinks available all the time.
Scott and Megan are very hands-on and participate in much of the activity. They only have a small group of guests at one time, so it is an intimate experience with great opportunites to get to know the other super-nice and friendly guests. We took 14 family members ages 2-70 and we had a great time!
Bring plenty of layers and a rain jacket, as they have mountain weather. Also bring lots of sunscreen and lip balm. For the rides, it is important to have clothing like jeans and long sleeve shirts to protect from tree branches and sun.
You won't be sorry for staying at TRR, so go and have a great time!

Me and my family took a vacation to Tumbling River Ranch, we arrived in Colorado a day in advance and the next morning a man from the ranch arrived on time, packed our luggage, and was extremely friendly. The ride to the ranch was long but it gave me and my family time to appreciate Colorado, the whole ride I was taking opportunities to snap pictures of the mountains. When we arrived people were there to great us, and gave us a tour of the ranch. The ranch was amazing and I was absolutely blow away, since I am a photographer I was in a chunk of pure heaven! The whole time I felt the people were there for me, and not a day was wasted. I learned how to rock climb, I earned ribbons in the rodeo, spent time in the hot tub, went horse back riding, went on hikes, and since im a vegetarian they went out if there was to satisfy me, the food was fantastic! The overnight ride was great, and I recommend it. I was extremely sad to leave because I bonded with the people who work there. We will be moving close to the ranch at the end of this year. Best vacation ever, best week of my life. -Hailey

This vacation will be the standard to which all others will be compared. The level of service, the diversity of activities for all ages, the stunning views & setting... and people were nice nice nice. Our 7 y/o twins had never really spent time on a horse, and they both formed relationships with their horses and with riding. They were so proud of themselves at the end-of-week rodeo! My son loved fly-fishing all day with his uncle. I took my son and cousin on an overnight horseback ride - we will cherish the bright stars, galloping, and the funny stories forever. We all went white water rafting, which is worth the price of admission for the views alone, but enjoyed the challenge of maneuvering too. My 12 y/o went skeet shooting for the first time, and he liked it so much it was the activity around this year's birthday party. Throughout all the actives, the food was great. The owners took care of my dad when, in the middle of the night, he split his lip and needed to go to the ER, and not a hint that this was an inconvenience. Seriously, we are experts at cruises, Club Meds and other high-end destinations, and this will always be my #1 favorite. We can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: The Pueblo House can accommodate a big, extended family, like 20 people, so you can eat with yoursel...
