Was staying at a nearby ranch and they recommended Kennebec. My business friend and I decided to check it out and WOW was an awesome place. Excellent service, excellently prepared food and a nice casual relaxing dining experience. Miguel and Barbara are great hosts and have a wonderful establishment that I look forward to returning to and recommending to others.

Amazing sweet find in the middle of nowhere on the way to Durango, Colorado. Love Love Love!
Mark was our waiter, very friendly young man, great service! Found out he was from Iowa too when we got to talking! A most delightful dining experience in this charming, elegant, unique and beautifully appointed little GEM! Great menu with reasonable prices and lighter fare offered. We had delicious wine, a flatbread special with sundried tomato, pesto, feta, Parmesan ! Amazing flavor! and the best salad I've ever tasted! With tuna, hard boiled egg, avocado, tomato, sprinkled with sea salt and vinegarette! Elegant! Delicious! Romantic ambiance , a special FAVORITE in my book! Highly recommend it! In Hesperus, Co...on the way to Durango on 160!

This cafe is a total surprise. It is 10 miles west of Durango and 20 miles east of Cortez (Mesa Verde National Park) in the tiny community of Hesperus. Surrounded by aspen and fir trees, it is literally "in the woods." The first time we stopped, we were expecting a little "mom and pop" hamburger stand. This cafe is anything but. The menu is wonderful, and the daily specials are outstanding. Without a doubt, they have the best wine list of any restaurant in the Four Corners area. The night we ate there, the windows were wide open and the smells of the Colorado forest wafted through the dining room. Outside, a deer browsed in the meadow. We had a Mediterranean mixed grill appetizer, duck in ginger sauce, and a New York steak served with a sauce made with shrimp. A nice bottle of Chianti complemented the meal. The cafe is not inexpensive, but it is well worth the drive and well worth the price for both the ambiance and the meal.

We went here quite by accident and were thoroughly thrilled with our meal, service, and the setting. The artichoke is perfect and the salads superb. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying in the area or don't want to fight the crowds in Durango. A reservation is suggested.

We have lived in this area for well all our lives basically and had never been to the Kennebec Café.
We went for a drive and saw it, it was around dinner time so we decided to stop and give it a try.
To our great delight it was awesome! It is a little on the pricey side but it was well worth it. They also have a brunch on Sundays which we intend to try next!
