What a wonderful place! We stayed (2 adults, 2 kids under 5) in Splendid Vista. Somethings worth noting 1. The view is amazing!! 2. You are far enough away from the other cabins that it feels very private. We stayed on a weekend where all the other cabins were full and it still was very quiet and peaceful. 3. We visited in mid June, there is a small creek nearby that the kids were able to play in a lot -- that probably was the highlight of their trip. 4. You do get free wifi and a TV with cable, so you aren't disconnected. 5. Full shower with bathtub which our kids also really enjoyed. 6. Westcliff is nearby which has nice Main St. to walk on. Also there are some trails within 5 miles to the Hillside Cottages. 7. Everything is very clean. 8. Also, we are from KS. I was a little confused that it didn't have AC. (Mama loves AC) It's high enough in elevation that it does cool down very quick at night. That wasn't an issue at all. .. Guys, this place is as beautiful as the pictures show. I don't have anything negative to say about it. The price it is at is a steal.

If you are looking for somewhere to get away - this place is perfect! Make sure you arrive before dark or else you will miss all of the beautiful scenery around this hidden gem.
We had a great time staying here. Beautiful cottage with awesome views! If you want to stay somewhere quiet this is the place. This was our first time visiting this part of the state and we really enjoyed it. I think my only issue was that the tv was in the bedroom and not in the kitchen/sitting area. Otherwise it's a great place to stay! Keep in mind that the closest town is Westcliffe-12 miles south or Canon City-about 35 miles northwest. It didn't bother us because we love to just get out and explore the back roads. Will definitely be coming back!
We loved our stay at the Solitude & Sunshine cottage in Hillside, CO. We felt that the cabin was immaculately kept and adorably decorated. We loved the solitude and simplicity of the area. For those reviewing that there isn't much to do in the surrounding town - I don't think they understand the point of the location. It's all about immersing yourself in nature and wide open spaces! We found the town of Westcliffe to be charming and welcoming. The people were very nice and we had great meals at Chappy's and Belle's Diner. We also appreciated the proximity to the Sangre de Cristos. Adventure! Would definitely come again.
The Hiĺside Cottages in the minimal village of Hillside Colorado are a great place to stay. They are modern, rustic, comfortable and nicely finished. My main hesitancy are the induction cooktops, which take forever to heat anything on. Sitting outside could be more private, since the cottages sit closely together. The biggest draw here are the beautiful views in this valley, nestled in the Sangre de Christos. It's a stunning area. And its mostly an area of working ranches, which hopefully wont change
There are outdoor activities nearby, but I would also bring a book and relax in the quiet and peace of this beautiful setting. And there is the nearby town od Westcliff if you need further distraction. The local cinema was running Cat Ballou, part of their western film festival. It's fitting in this town and setting.
Privacy would be my other statement. This place was Perfect especially for any type of longer stay. We didn't stay long enough. The place was immaculate and I am so happy we chose this place and we will return!! Make sure that you realize this is not a hotel with maid service but we like our privacy and this place was exactly what we were looking for.
We had a lovely time at the cottage. The view was unbeatable, plus we got to bring our dog who loved it as well! The kitchen set up was minimal but it worked great for us, we grilled out each night and had brought food for all our meals. There's not anything right for shopping/eating/entertainment there but we loved that, just bring a book. Westcliffe and Canon City aren't too far though. If you want a real 'get away' this is the affordable solution!
