Literally, if you come to Colorado, you HAVE to stay here! You will NOT be dissapointed. We arrived late and Jim was more than willing to wait up for us to arrive and show us around the place to ensure we had everything we needed. Our room was AMAZING! I am one to check cleanliness of things, as I am a tad OCD and I couldnt find one speck of dust in our room! The sheets smelled wonderful, the towels were super soft and the place was perfectly decorated. Tons of space in our room and the bed was a dream! The next morning we woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking downstairs. Went down early and had coffee on the balcony with a GORGEOUS view. It was breathtaking! Jim made a homecooked breakfast which was so delicious. Every morning we had a different dish and each morning I was just as impressed. He never let us down on that home cookin! You get to eat breakfast looking at the side of a snow covered mountain! No hotel can give you that!
The whole lodge was roomy and had many places to just sit and relax, all with a view. We didnt get to enjoy his dinner or wine in the evening as we were out and about, but I heard nothing but great things from the other guests.
Jim and Kona (the lodge pet) were very friendly. Jim gave us many suggestions on things to do in town and around the area. He was more than helpful with ANY questions we had. Kona was just a joy! She and our daughter got along just great and they played all morning out in the snow. She is such a smart and friendly dog!
Before we left, Jim took us on a personal guided tour up the mountain to an old mine and blacksmith shop, Kona also helped lead the way! Never have I had such personal attention from an owner of a B&B. He took us ot the top of the mountain (in the snow!) and told us many interesting facts along the way.
Silver Lake Lodge is close to many different places to visit, St Mary's Glacier, numerous hikes, waterfalls, Georgetown Train Ride, great places to eat, micro brewery, shopping. Its far enough out to make you feel like you are 'away' but close enough to enjoy many fun activites.
I honestly can not say enough wonderful things about Jim and his lodge. There was nothing at all that I could say bad about this place. If you are coming to town, you must stay here. Its top of the line rooms with top of the line service. You will feel as part of the family staying here.
