“LOVELY GET AWAY CHOICE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2011

Both cabins were very clean and comfortable. The owner of this property is very considerate of your privacy but is more than helpful should you need something. We stayed for three nights and found many interesting sights in this area to visit during the day. Hopefully we will be able to visit again next year, as we all had a wonderful time.
A wonderful place to feel close to God and nature.

Thank you Mary for everything.......

Room Tip: Very peaceful

Mary, the owner of the cabins, has thought of everything to make your stay relaxed, comfortable, and refreshing. At least this was our experience. Not only is the cabin cozy and warm, but all the materials are provided to create a fire, play games, play in the sauna and the river, etc. etc. This was the perfect romantic getaway for us - not far from Denver, but isolated from intrusive technologies so you can spend quality time with whomever you travel with. We can't wait to return for more time.

My friend wanted to stay in a 5-star hotel, but I convinced him that to have a "real" Colorado experience we needed to stay in a cabin. My internet search for a "cabin near Denver" came up with Call of the Canyon and it was PERFECT. Especially for a guy who is used to 5-star hotels! It was rustic-yet-modern, immaculate, and every detail had been thought out, down to the cozy bathrobes, fluffy towels, flannel sheets and handmade soaps. We had a private sauna, which combined with dips in the cold creek made for a very feel-good natural spa experience. We made use of the hammock for naps, the creekside chairs for morning coffee, the charcoal grill for steaks, and the fireplace for S'mores. We also did a gorgeous hike up the Hell's Hole trail. All this and we had the luxury of privacy -- there were no people around. This was far better than any hotel and my friend is still thanking me for making such a good choice.

I picked another great one! : ) Couldn't ask for a more relaxing weekend in a breathtaking setting. Literally steps outside of the Arapahoe Nat'l forest, this area is as secluded and serene as it gets. I wanted a babbling creek just outside my door to fall asleep to, low and behold, if the creek were any closer, it would be in the cabin! Just the perfect touch? Our own private sauna for two right outside our front door...this is the deal...sit inside the sauna for about 15 mins, get all nice and hot, then put on your robe and walk just a few steps to the creek and either lay on the hammick or grab one of the cozy lawn chairs, lay back and gaze at the mountain in front of you and just enjoy the nature around you...this is got to be heaven!

Thanks to our wonderful hostess, Mary, for letting us share in your little slice of paradise!

Best
Mia

My ladyfriend and I have stayed at Call of the Canyon three times in the past three years. The young couple who own this property are very friendly and will do whatever they can to make your stay there memorable.

It's quiet...private...secluded...the place to be if you need to just let the world go and relax for awhile. It's clean and well-maintained.

Come for a visit if you like:
A cabin with a fireplace
A large, comfy bed
The sound of a rushing stream a few feet from your door
A private sauna
A chance to relax and renew

Don't visit if you want:
Telephones
Television
Take-out food nearby
Playgrounds, babysitters
Room service

Idaho Springs has little restaurants and antique shops...a place to wander around on a Saturday afternoon.

Call of the Canyon is Colorado's best kept secret...a wonderful hideaway for a romantic couple.

Don't you love it when you find a website for a place to stay, cross your fingers & make a reservation, and then find it more than meets your expectations?! This is Call of the Canyon Cabins in Idaho Springs, Colorado. These are authentic log cabins built in the mid 1900's that have been carefully renovated with creature comforts such as a bathroom with shower stall and microwave, stove, and refrig in the kitchen area. A large rock, wood-burning fireplace was wonderful for the cool nights. The feather-top queen bed in the separate bedroom was great. They are located on the West Chicago Creek...leave the door open a bit at night and you can hear the water rushing by as you snooze. The owners have done a wonderful job of designing cozy, private areas around the property...hammocks hidden in the woods and on the small island in the creek...and they are very attentive to any needs you have. Wildlife abounds, including hummingbirds and racoons at your front door. Can't wait to return!
