We stayed here This November with our family, 7 adults and plenty of space, the most stunning location, beautiful and easy to get around, we recommend hiring a car and using this to travel around Iceland as it was most definitely the best way to travel, the beds are so comfortable and Johanna is such a lovely person. I would definitely recommend here to anybody wishing to visit Iceland in the future it’s such a gem!
Where to start? 15 minutes drive from the airport; beautiful, beautiful house that is very well equipped. In a beautiful setting where it is easy to relax and just 'be' - but also a well located base to enjoy all the area has to offer. We hired cars from the airport and travelled to all the sights we had set out to see, and then some over and above. The sights we saw were stunning in their natural, unspoilt beauty. Just drive inland and you will see.
And we are so glad we opted for a late entrance for the Blue Lagoon; the evening/dark sky experience added so much for us; so special. We were unsure about spending so much on one tourist attraction, but it was well worth it. Go for the basic package though ... as we did. The upgrades are all dressing/upsells.
This time of year is fantastic for a visit, lovely and cold, snowy and crisp, and whilst we didn't have lady Aurura dance for us, it didn't matter, although that would have been icing on the cake, and certainly, if you visit the Island and she is playing, this villa is perfectly set as a luxury setting for you to sit and enjoy the show.
Brilliant weekend in Iceland.villa was fantastic so nice to come back to after a day exploring. Loved the location over looking the sea and always lovely and warm.
This home exceeded our expectations! The quiet neighborhood, mornings strolling along the edge of the beach during the ocean's low tide while listening to the seagulls and enjoying the view of Keflavik Airport lights during the evenings was very relaxing. The villa is beyond PERFECT. There were times when we just wanted to forego the day's planned itinerary to relax at home.listening to soft music. Johanna is a perfect host who provided all the necessary amenities. Our time here was better than any 5-star hotel. Someday, our group hopes to return to this exact location. Yes, we spotted the northern lights while sitting in the hot tub and couldn't contain our noisy excitement! We quickly got out to drive to a darker location for the light show. The home is one exit away from the Blue Lagoon where the darkness enhanced our photos. The morning of our departure, a double rainbow appeared over the ocean view directly in the backyard. This home is definitely worth a pot of gold! Thank You Johanna for our remarkably memorable stay in Iceland!
Stayed here for one week in July 2017. Our group had 7 and there was plenty of room. The house is roughly 15 minutes from the airport, and 25 minutes from Reykjavik. It's about 5 minutes off the highway in a small, quiet town. The Owner was very nice and answered all our questions. Her son met us at the house and gave us a great tour and how to use everything. The lot is on the ocean with water views. There are houses on either side, but it is very quiet. The garage is storage, so we put the rental car in the driveway. Inside, there are two main living areas, with one in the back near the deck with the ocean view. This house is very modern and well maintained. Appliances, light fixtures and finishes are high end.
The floors have radiant heat. There is a dining room that seats 8. The deck in the back has a large table and a hot tub (geothermal at 94 degrees, no jets). The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cookware. Other renters have left things that come in handy - bags, condiments, etc. We had some issues figuring out the stove and oven since it was high end European, but we figured it out. It has a stove, microwave, cooktop, dishwasher and large frig/freezer. There are basically 3 bedrooms and two full baths. Two bedrooms near the entry are connected with a sliding door. One of these bedrooms has a full bath off of it. The other full bath is near the third (master) bedroom. That bedroom is the biggest, with a queen bed and view of the ocean with sliding door to the deck. There is also a finished room in half of the garage which works for a kids room, although that room can get hot. the house has tons of blankets, towels, etc. and a full laundry room.
Other items to note: this place is very comfortable, and is basically set up to house two families of 4. Finishes are high end, and we felt that we had a beautiful palace away from home for the week. It was a great place to come home to and relax after the long day of sightseeing. There is also a fireplace in the main living area. The open concept works very well for a large group. The two full baths are also great. It is roughly 15 minutes from the Blue Lagoon. We spent a lot of time in Reykjavik and east of Reykjavik, so just be ready for a short drive the city. Beautiful yard - just overall an amazing place to stay - highly recommended!!!!
We were two family's totalling nine people including 5 teenagers. The house is very functional, well equipped and situated in a good location (so great to use as a base to visit all the key places (Golden Circle, Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon, etc.) or even to hang out and enjoy the views and explore the local village.
I would highly recommend the villa and would not hesitate to stay there again. Also, the owners are very accommodating and responsive should you need anything.
This rental home was absolutely beautiful. We saw the Northern Lights from the back deck the first two nights we were there. Great location only 15 minutes from the airport, and about 45 minute drive to Reykjavik. If you travel from the US make sure to bring outlet converters for your electronics.
