“Amazingly preserved vintage cabins”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

The owners of these resort cabins told me the story of the cabins (built in 1959) and I thought how incredible! These cabins and grounds are immaculately kept while preserving the vintage design and feel. (I thought the cabins were only a few years old.) Even the original vintage wagon wheel western couches and chairs, and the other furniture are in perfect condition! Kudos to the owners and their hospitality. Definitely the best place to stay in Lake City. I've seen other cabin locations in town and Pleasant View is by far the best and cleanest.

We stayed 2 nights at this resort. We had Cabin #5, it was nicely equipped with all the utensils and items to cook and save some money on going out and eat. The owners made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant. Deer walk through this property in the mornings and afternoons. All cabins have BBQ pits, and chairs on the porches. All in all, this is a good bargain in Lake City, the cabins are spotlessly clean and fresh linens. We will be back next year, Tim G.

We were two couples staying in Cabin 1. It was quiet, very clean, and the kitchen fully equipped with modern appliances. In cabin furnishings for seating have been around along time so they are a bit rustic. The front porch is perfect for comfortable relaxing after a day of travel. The occasional turkey or deer may pass by.

They also rent jeeps on site. This makes the whole rental process simple and we had a blast.

The owners Jim and Nita provided the best personal attention one could ever ask for.; Major forest fires were ablaze to the south and east of Lake City. Jim and Nita gave really good advice on how to plan travel to avoid danger or discomfort from these fires. They were always available for any little detail that may have come up.

We would be sure to stay here again if we ever make it back to Lake City

We have stayed at Pleasant View four years now. Jim & Nita are great owners who work very hard to make things go smoothly. The cabins are clean and stocked with linens and all the kitchen utensils you need for an extended stay. Don't hesitate!

Our four-night stay at Pleasant View was a highlight of our trip to CO. Jim and Nita, the owners, work very hard to keep this resort running like a well-oiled machine. Online booking was easy (although we were probably lucky to get the dates requested because there are so many guests who return to this place year after year), and Nina was able to shift cabin bookings to accommodate our late request to stay an extra night without our having to move to another cabin. Renting a jeep on the premises was very convenient (with a discount given to cabin guests), and, after watching how thoroughly each vehicle is washed upon return, it was easy to see why our jeep was so clean when we picked it up. As others have noted, the cabins are very clean and well stocked with dishes and good quality cooking utensils. The decor is very minimal but quite comfy. The resort is also close to town, making it very easy to pick up groceries, do laundry or eat at a downtown restaurant. Between watching deer, rabbits and wild turkeys from our cabin window to chatting with Nina and other guests while we played ukuleles on our front porch, we had a lovely time at Pleasant View Resort and look forward to visiting again in the future.

Great location, amazingly friendly down-home proprietors, and the perfect relaxing family get-away! Jim & Nita and staff are so friendly, considerate, and helpful with anything and everything.

The cabins are clean and nostalgic, with mid-century rustic furnishings--it's not luxurious, but very functional and tidy--the perfect nostalgic family cabin! Everything functioned flawlessly, and we were very comfortable our whole stay, even with temps ranging from 40-80 while we were there.

The cabins are stocked with all the kitchen apparatus you need for a weekend or a month--just bring your own food and you are set. The town has both a small country grocery store (produce is a little slim) and an amazingly well-stocked organic grocery store next to the museum.

If you don't want to cook, there is a nice array of restaurants in town. I have to say our favorite breakfast was at the Sportsman "Hutch's" which is a quirky no-frills gas station, tow/repair, general store, and cafe, all-in-one. Try the biscuits and gravy!

Pleasant View rents Jeeps and ATV's right on their property--very nice, new and clean equipment. You simply MUST get up on the Alpine Loop and other awe-inspiring viewpoints and historical sites. There are also jaw-dropping gorgeous hikes all around.

There is a great boat/kayak/canoe/bike rental place in town: The Sportsman Outdoors (also do tours and fishing trips)--clean, well-maintained equipment, even if not the most cosmetically perfect. Very knowledgeable and professional staff. And Lake San Cristobal is spectacular!

Do the Hard Tack Mine Tour--what a great find! 40-minute tour is very fun and educational. Amazing displays, nice gift/souvenir shop and fun for the whole family. We also partook of the mini-golf, touring the historic downtown (tours and self-guided walks available), and driving up to Slumgullion Pass and stopping at the info displays for the amazing geology of the area.

With all of that, my favorite was simply sitting on the rocker on the porch, watching the deer wander through, the kids playing, and soaking up the clean air and great views. You can never spend too much time at Pleasant View Resort and Lake City--we add a day or two to our stay every year! Most relaxing place in the Southwest!

Room Tip: Cabins 7, 8, and 9 are closest to the kids play ground.

These are VERY CLEAN cabins and very quiet. Our cabin had a kitchenette in it. The kitchen was fully stocked w/kitchen items...all we had to bring was the food. Remember...this is a "cabin" and not a room at the Ritz!!! The cabin was very clean, cozy, comfy. The bathroom was very clean, small, but nice. The owners are friendly and very knowledgeable of the area. Definitely would stay here again. It had wi-fi, but we did not use it :)
