“Unique & Exhilarating Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2013

Hard to tell who was more excited about our dogsled outing, us or the lovable & obviously well-loved, healthy, happy dogs at Alpine Adventures. Close to 100 dogs began howling shortly before we set out & some of the dogs were leaping up & down in their traces & rolling in the snow while waiting--they seem to love to pull! All of us had a turn both mushing and riding in the cozy sled, and our friendly guide E.J. (who rides in front of the sled on a snowmobile) explained everything thoroughly and made the experience a lot of fun. The 5-mile track is flat & so safe for all ages as long as you lean in to the turns so the sled doesn't tip, and you don't step off the brake bar before the "emergency brake" hooks are set into the snow by the guide, otherwise the dogs might take off w/the sled and passenger. (Though 9-year olds and up are allowed to mush we weren't sure our 10-year old daughter had the weight or skills necessary to release/set the sled's brake & steer independently, so E.J. encouraged her to drive w/her dad behind her on the sled rails and she still had a fantastic time.) It's quite a thrill to feel the dogs surge against the lines as they take off at a run! The open valley setting of Rancho Escondido offers gorgeous vistas of snow-capped peaks while you ride, and at one point we had to stop the sled to wait for a coyote to move off the track. We loved this experience and highly recommend Alpine Adventures to other families.

“Fun group dogsledding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2013

Took a break from the slopes for a fun dogsledding adventure with Alpine. We had a group of 6 and had the track pretty much to ourselves. The snow was fresh, so the ride wasn't as fast as normal, but the dogs were excited and we had a blast. The staff was all really friendly and we had complimentary hot cocoa. Our guide Pat was very knowledgeable and helped answer all our questions. We even got to help feed the dogs after our ride. I'd recommend this as a highlight for anyone in the Breckenridge are.

“Highlight of our ski vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2013

Our two sons (12 and 8) will be talking about our dog sledding experience for a very long time. We truly enjoyed an hour and a half of sheer joy. The looks on our faces sons as they took turns driving a real dog sled were priceless! Kudos to the super-friendly staff. Don't miss this trip if you're in the area. We hope to come back again.

“Mush”

My son and I went on the dog sled tour with Alpine last weekend and haven't stopped talking about it. It was the highlight of our trip out west. We loved going on this rustic adventure as opposed to a tourist-y one . It was real and we really enjoyed it!! We had decided to take a break from skiing in Breckenridge and get out and explore the area a little. We drove to Leadville and stopped in at Alpine Adventures, inc a couple hours before our appointment. Stacy and Ashley welcomed us and gave us a map of the area and suggestions of a place to eat lunch and shop before our tour. The town of Leadville was charming. We had a great lunch at the Golden Burro and then went for dessert at Cookies with Altitude. When we got back to Alpine our guide, Pat was there to greet us with Nut, an snuggly Alaskan Huskie. Pat was awesome...he introduced us to each pup and let us help hook the dogs to the sled. It was a great hands on experience. The dogs seemed very well cared for, friendly and as excited for the sled ride as we were. My son and I took turns riding in the sled and "driving" the team. I don't know what was better....the sledding or just interacting with the dogs...or hearing Pat's stories. The whole day was great and i would recommend it to anyone. The scenery was gorgeous too!
