This place is really unusual, and pretty fun. First off, you can hardly find the reception desk for the gift shop. Half of the short time we stayed, there was a woman in an elaborate 1800s costume behind the counter. Our room, the cheapest they had, was as you'd figure, kind of cramped, but otherwise fine. The location is terrific, and people were pretty friendly. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very good.

My wife and I stayed at Delaware May 30 and 31. Nothing but great things to say about the experience. The bed was outstanding and the ambience of an old world hotel was worth the stay. Hotel staff very accommodating behind the front desk and the clean-up crew. Continental breakfast was all you needed. Room was nice and clean. Rates reasonable and great parking in private lot across the street. Will stay here next trip to Leadville.

Room Tip: No elevators. If handicapped, choose second floor. No need for air conditioning.

We forgive historic properties a LOT , but the Delaware just doesn't make up for its shortcomings with the quaintness it has. As previous guests have noted, it's a bit like something out of Hoarders. They don't know when to stop cramming stuff in. The lobby is slightly claustrophobic with all the frou frou. The check-in was fine, but the numbers on the keys aren't the numbers on the room doors. Key number 209 unlocks room 9 on the second floor. The stairs with luggage are a hassle at this altitude. Our room was quite small. There's a small fridge but no coffee making facilities or micro-wave. First time I've seen pillow shams lying on top of the pillow with nothing in them. The TV is small and old. The bathroom is a serious disappointment. Tiny, no tub. The light switch takes some looking. It's behind the door. Some of the carpentry is less than standard - the headboard had a lot of wiggle.

Walls are thin. Can hear everything in next room, including footsteps.

The continental breakfast is acceptable, though I dislike having a TV broadcasting infomercials when I can't change the channel.

Location fantastic. The staff very nice and helpful.

My needs were simple--a clean room that was inexpensive. Those needs were certainly met and more--the extras include: a classic 1880s hotel with appropriate furnishings and a very helpful staff. This was a great value and a pleasant stay.

A landmark building in the city. Rooms were decorated to suit the Victorian era and most everything in the hotel is for sale. So, it's like you're spending the night in an antique store. Convenient location for shops and restaurants. They have guest parking a block away from the hotel. Floors are creaky and not much soundproofing between the rooms so you can hear people in the next room talk. Toilet and bath are in separate areas of the room while the sink/wash area is part of the room.

I think our trip to Leadville is a one off so we probably won't return.

We stayed in this hotel last night. We happened to arrive a couple of hours early in a raging snow storm. They would not allow us to check in early and we had to fend for ourselves for two hours in the cold and snow. Then we had to park almost a block away down an unplowed alley in a lot that had several inches of snow in it. We asked about the parking places across the street and were told that that was two hour parking. The next morning we saw several cars parked there that had been there when we arrived the day before. I would rate the service by the front desk as very poor. And then there is the shower. Our shower had minimal water pressure and if you turned the handle to full heat all you got was tepid water with occasional blasts of very hot or very cold water. There were some other issues as well but I think you get the idea, Stay at your own risk.

This is an old historic hotel that really made our stay in Leadville more memorable. The hotel oozes history and I'm glad it hasn't been converted into a modern day type of hotel. The floors are creaky and the doors are not quite square anymore but that's what makes for a really special stay. All sorts of old antiques throughout. The rooms are really neat and clean with comfortable beds. We had a group of 8 with 4 rooms. All were different and it was neat to look at each room. This was a great stay compared to all of the modern box hotels that all seem the same. The staff was very friendly and told us some great places to eat. If you want to get a taste of what it was like to stay in one of the grand old hotels of yesteryear this is the place. I highly recommend this hotel.
