One of the best breakfasts we ever had and that in this very charming little town of Littleton. The food was excellent and the service (by Crystal) was just top notch. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed the food, the coffee (the glass of bubbly) and the nice environment. Terracotta is a very well run restaurant and we can wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Food choice was excellent, well prepared and presented. We did find it to be a bit high on the noise level. Outside seating much preferred.
Parking is a small problem. They have a small lot but you are better off to find something on the street.

I had lunch with a friend and enjoyed a beautiful salad/sandwich combination. We sat on the patio and spent a relaxing 2+ hours visiting over our lunch. The food was good. The service was average and unrushed.

This was our first visit, and we had the calamari appetizer, I had the acorn squash, and my husband had the char. We split the Chocolate Crème Brulee’ for dessert. They were all, simply, incredibly delicious. (Btw, the calamari was not of the usual fried clams style – this was the real deal.) My only little quibble with the food was that the pork chop that I ordered extra with the squash -- although of highest quality and cooked to perfection, as was everything –was nothing special and not worth the extra $9.00.

(And speaking of price, our entire meal for two came to just over $100 for two, including a bottle of wine and gourmet appetizer, entrees, and dessert to share. This was definitely reasonable, as we have often spent almost three times as much in downtown Denver restaurants and had less than half the enjoyment.)

The café definitely earns the description of “a neighborhood gem”, except for a few points which I will list below (and why I am giving Café Terra Cotta four stars instead of five).

1. The café is charming with old brick walls and wooden floors, but having oil paintings on the wall with hanging price tags is, in my opinion, tacky.

2. No tablecloths – or even placemats. (When I go out for an elegant meal, I prefer the former and am willing to pay a little extra for that.)

3. The kitchen is too much on view and has all the attractiveness of a “greasy spoon” diner. Who considers having piles of large empty plastic bottles of oil on display appetizing? The restaurant would greatly benefit from blocking off the kitchen at least somewhat with more of the old brick used for the walls.

4. The service, although friendly, was just so-so. Although he had only about five tables, our waiter was not very attentive – and, yes, although we are perfectly capable of pouring our own wine refills, when we pay more than $50.00 a person for a meal, we like to be “spoiled.” However, the service went from three stars to four when he asked if we were celebrating anything, and when we said, “Our anniversary,” he gave us a big smile and immediately brought us two glasses of complimentary champagne and also “comped” our dessert.

5. No bread served. This place just cries out for fresh artisan bread! (Again, we would be willing to pay extra for this.)

But despite the above suggestions for improvement, we will definitely be back!

We have been here for both breakfast and dinner. The food and service are always great. It is a small place, so there is usually a wait in the mornings, but its worth it if you have the time, or go early. Great bloody marys and mimosas too!
