Bob & Sue are great! their hospitality was wonderful, we felt the hosts for a few days and their instructions were invaluable!. Excellent and plentiful breakfast. The room is small but cozy. The lodge has many amenities and is located in a small corner of paradise: the quiet is assured! Mancos is close to you and there you can find an excellent and cozy restaurant with Mexican specialties. Mesa Verde is accessible by car in half an hour, and it's worth it!. Silverton is two hours by car and is fascinating ... Greetings also to Morris, the most affectionate cat in Colorado!.

We stayed with Sue and Scott for 2 nights in de cabin.
The first day we arrived at 3pm, went into the (beautifull) cabin, got rid of our luggage, took a chair on the porch, took our laptop and stayed there untill sunset, did not even eat.........it gave us such a peacefull and serene feeling. The view, the quietness........it made us feel soooo happy!!!!! We really did not want to leave.....but we will be back one day!!

Extremely clean and comfortable rooms. Lovely property and decor. Would like to go back just to stay at this propery again. They have a different approach to B&B. Instead of just a room, the whole house is yours to enjoy as well as the large property. They make you feel welcome and not have to tip toe around. The breakfast was amazing and they joined us which was a real pleasure. I was able to learn a lot more about the area and people - for example the water rights. We felt so at home. I often wake up in the middle of the night and had felt right at home sitting in the living room and walking outside. I also got hungry - no problem, there were lots of choices for a late night snack - fruit, candy bars, chips, nuts, granola bars, juice, water, tea, coffee, tissues, glasses, napkins, etc, etc. The animals are very friendly and nonintrusive. Morris, one of the cats, was allowed to sleep with me which made the stay even more enjoyable. (Morris also escorted me around at night; I felt like I had my own pet companion) Wonderful hosts, amazing decor, lovely property, great books and artwork, highly recommend staying, would also be a great place if you do not have a specific travel location but just need to get away and relax.

This was our first experience of an American B&B and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome at The Sundance Bear Lodge. We were delighted with our room, “The Mesa Verde”, which was comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated in Native Indian style. There was plenty of room for the three of us, with everything you could want including a well equipped bathroom, TV, magazines and to top it all a beautiful view.

The guest lounge /dining room was huge with so many interesting items that it was hard to know where to investigate first…pictures, books, artefacts….. even the table was a work of art. The furniture was comfy and the whole atmosphere was very relaxing. Breakfast was served buffet style and included fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast and bagels along with some scrumptious homemade items, cornbread, french toast and some delicious peach and almond pastries (my favourite). In addition there was a help yourself snack area with chocolate, chips, soft drinks and hot drinks all available 24/7.

Sue and Bob were welcoming, informative and passionate about the Lodge and the surrounding area. It was a pleasure to chat to them over breakfast and in the evening.
Sadly we only had time to stay 2 nights; we spent a full day at Mesa Verde and the evening at the Cultural Centre in Cortez to see some Ute Indian Dancing. If we had been able to stop an additional night we would have done the Durango to Silverton Railway and spent more time exploring the gorgeous land around the lodge.

We were particularly impressed when our hosts really went the extra mile, firstly they lent us a set of binoculars for our trip to Mesa Verde and secondly they sent the medicines we accidentally left behind by courier to our final hotel.

Finally a special mention to the lovely pets; we enjoyed meeting them all but Morris, the ginger cat, was a particular favourite and a huge hit with our daughter who was missing her cat at home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Thank you Bob and Sue for a memorable stay.

We booked a room via Expedia. We did not know what to expect as this is the first time we used B and B in the USA. It was excellent. Really comfortable and the owners, Bob and Sue were very hospitable. We did a 'Road Trip' and this was such a peaceful place to rest each of the evenings we stayed. The cats and dogs were also welcoming!

My wife and I went with another couple (they made the reservations) and stayed in two rooms in the main house for two nights while visiting Mesa Verde National Park. Sundance Bear Lodge is wonderful, bright, comfortable, welcoming, clean and just about anything one could want in a B & B. We had the run of a family room/dining room/kitchen area/porch on the main floor. We even wandered the acreage owned by the B & B owners and used the horse shoe pits (there is an amenity I've never had at a B & B). I thought that the price was fair for the value received.

The location is rural, just a short distance north of Mancos and convenient to Mesa Verde (a wonderful, fascinating, magical place itself).

Sue and Bob were good hosts supplying good, wholesome breakfasts and treats and helpful with local questions, too. They were around when you needed something or had a question and unobtrusive otherwise.

Can't say much more other than I'd certainly stay there again if we were to visit Mesa Verde or that area in general again.

We have stayed at several b&B's and the Sundance Bear Lodge is lodging with a home-like atmosphere. We stayed in the Mancos room; it was small, but nicely decorated, with a private bathroom. Bob and Sue are gracious hosts, welcoming us warmly upon our arrival. The Wifi worked well, even outside on the porch. The large greatroom is comfortable to watch TV. Coffee was good and made early for us. Breakfast was delicious. We would highly recommend the Sundance Bear Lodge.

Room Tip: Mancos room small but comfortable. Nicely decorated. Private bath.
