“I Almost Hate to Write How Nice It Is!”
Reviewed 11 September 2011

The accommodations are nice, the scenery is beautiful, the staff is exceptional, and the food is excellent. The only fear that I have is that by writing how wonderful this hotel and its staff are, I may make it impossible to get a room in the future as folks flock to it. It is a jewel.

We have had occasion to stay at the Cliff House several times and in various other hotels in the area, including the very pricey one down the road that is world famous. Without hesitation I can say there is no nicer place to stay in the Colorado Springs area.

We visited the Cliff House In October and absolutely loved it, we had an amazing time here, it was our first trip to USA, and thanks to Cliff House and all the lovely people in Manitou Springs we will definitely be back!!! The hotel brings the traditional together with the new in classic style, the staff are extremely helpful, friendly and make you feel right at home, and give very personal professional service, which i have never experienced before.
The rooms were gorgeous, they were spotlessly clean, comfortable and very luxurious, every evening they done a lovely turn down service and left us chocolates and a wee flyer updating us on the events/goings ons in Cliff House and in and around Manitou Springs. We enjoyed very comfortable peaceful nights sleep here.
The breakfasts..... WOW!!! everyday was a buffet style breakfast full of all the things you get in your usual continental with lovely fresh fruit etc but also extremely tasty cooked breakfast with all the usual stuff, everything was very fresh, we were waited on for tea/coffee/toast by very friendly waitresses/waiters who couldnt do enough for you, if you wanted anything special, i.e poached eggs etc they were only too willing to supply this.
The hotel also had a very professional valet and bellboy service.
all in all this is the best hotel i have ever stayed in and we long to go back!
definitely worth a visit!!!

This was our 5th anniversary trip to The Cliff House in Manitou Springs. Each year we try another "class" of room just to compare. Highly recommend any choice you make!
Additionally, the food is excellent! Always torn between eating on the veranda and the dining room, but both offer superior service, food, and attention to detail.

Room Tip: Excellent quality in every detail

Because of a wedding on the premises we were upgraded to the Thomas Edison Suite. Heated towel rack, heated toilet seat, jacuzzi tub, steam shower, etc. etc. all for I think $270 per night. Have traveled a lot since retirement, and a bunch prior to. This without a doubt is the best we have experienced. Could have easily never left the room except for trips to the restaurant. Don't know how the other rooms might be, but our room plus the great porch for sitting could not be equaled.

There was hair on the bathroom floor - tuck! The netted tub had that pink mold growing in all of the jet intentions. Something crumbly was in the bed - had to pull covers all the way off to brush it all off! The two sitting chairs in the room were filthy dirty and really needed cleaning. Right next to the bed was a VERY large dark stain on the carpet. I wore my socks the entire time and they ended up dirty on the bottom from walking on the carpet. And, no HD TV-really!! I will say the guys doing the valet were wonderful and both times I called the front desk they were extremely helpful. However the help in the dining room Monday morning is another story. You pay a fee of $9 per person for the "complimentary" breakfast. It us supposed to be for service, which they do NOT provide.

We stayed here for one night this summer and loved it! Our first choice was the Broadmoor but they were booked for one of the nights we needed so we stayed at the Cliff House instead. It was lovely and we're glad we were able to experience both hotels, even though you really can't compare the two. The Cliff House is a beautiful inn with very comfortable and charming rooms. We ate dinner that night in their restaurant and the meal was outstanding and very reasonable! My only advice for the Cliff House is that it's time to upgrade your TV's to flat screens. Our old TV didn't even work but this didn't bother us since we were only there one night. Other than that minor blip, we would definitely stay here again!

We were looking for a place to splurge for a night and the Cliff House met the bill. Manitou Springs is a very cool town to visit with many interesting stores and an abundance of activities. From the moment we parked in front and had the valet take the car and hotel staff help us with the bags, it was obvious that this is a high end service hotel.

We spent a night in the Buffalo Bill suite which was amazing. In the picture of the hotel from the front, the room is under the spire on the left. The ceiling in the room is probably 30 feet high as the top part of the room has been painted and decorated to resemble the inside of a tee-pee. It was interesting and fun to stay there.

There were many amenities in the room including spa tub and even heated toilet seat which I imagine could be very nice in the winter. Room service was good with excellent deserts. I'm not sure how much I would have enjoyed a regular room for the price, but this suite was definitely a fun experience to stay in. I wouldn't stay there again due to price, but we really enjoyed our romantic evening in this one of a kind suite.

The only downside to the suite was that the bed was a queen due to the curvature of the room and the beds placement in front of the windows. That was a bit disappointing given the brice.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
What makes a hotel truly special?Prestige? Romance? Luxury? As a four diamond Colorado Springs Hotel, these attributes are very important, and we have each of them in abundance, but none of them matter as much as... the stories. The stories that are started here, by brides and grooms celebrating their weddings. The stories that are commemorated here, when couples choose us for their anniversaries. The stories that are shared here, when family vacations become unforgettable memories. Our stories really do matter: they define who we are. You see, as the premier historic hotel of the Greater Colorado Springs area, our history is forever intertwined with what we are today. In fact, The Cliff House is older than the State of Colorado itself! And just like your story, we have had our ups and downs: we have played host to famous dignitaries, and we have been a barracks for soldiers. Later floods and fires have even threatened our hotel's very existence. But, just like you, we've persevered. After our extensive remodel and grand re-opening in 1999, we quickly proved that The Cliff House is once again one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels. Nestled at the foot of majestic Pikes Peak, we've managed to keep all the trappings of Victorian elegance and luxury and also become a leader in innovative room features with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2001, we've consecutively received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for both the hotel and our dining room. Our dining room has also received the DiRoNa Award, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, every year. From our world-class fine dining, our amazing rooms, personalized service, our fun new bar and grill, to the limitless experiences and activities Manitou Springs has to offer: we are confident that you will love your stay here... and what a story you'll have to tell! We're proud of our history. Come share yours with us! We're within ten minutes of downtown Colorado Springs, but (rest assured) a world away! ... more   less
