We spent one night here to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is Victorian with modern updates including a heated toilet seat in the bathroom! Our room was clean and comfortable on the 3rd floor with a view overlooking Manitou Springs. Overall we loved our stay. Really enjoyed the live guitar music on the balcony of the Red Rock Bar and Grille on property, happy hour was from 5:00 to 6:00 pm and included $5 house wines, martinis and $3 beers. We also enjoyed the easy walk to the shops in the heart of Manitou Springs. There were two negatives to our stay. First, our room included a dining credit which was great so we tried the dining room for dinner. I had the ruby trout which had a very nice flavor but was dry and chewy. My husband ordered the pork loin which was so dry that he took one bite and was done. The waiter immediately offered something else but my husband decided to decline. The other issue was on a chilly night after rain in the afternoon the air conditioning was on high and the vent next to our table caused us to be very uncomfortable while dining. My husband put a menu over the vent and the waiter added another when he realized we were uncomfortable. We were surprised by the mediocre food after being impressed by the hotel overall which was disappointing.
In regards to our room while overall we loved it we had to call for maintenance twice as the bathroom cold faucet handle would not turn off and subsequently we stopped using it when we were told the maintenance man did not have the correct part to fix it.
This is a wonderful place for a couple to escape or celebrate a special occasion and we will return but will not dine in the dining room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Manitou Springs. Also be forewarned that there is a $9 per person serv...

Thank you very much for the positive review. We really appreciate your kind words about your stay. We do apologize for your less than optimum dining experience as we generally receive very favorable feedback for our dining operations. I have forwarded your concerns to our Food and Beverage Director and our Chef and will review this with them.

Thank you again for the time you took to provide comments and thank you for staying at The Cliff House at Pikes Peak!

This is a very charming boutique hotel in Manitou Springs. The rooms are all unique and well appointed with great amenities like a fireplace and spacious sitting area.
The staff were friendly -- Bubba was fantastic and shared his knowledge of Manitou Springs as well as great activities to try while I was there on business.
The hotel veranda was a hub for social activity - great way to end a day with a glass of wine with friends/colleagues.

Absolutely beautiful! Service was outstanding. Had a beautiful spacious room with great views of Manitou Springs and mountains. We were here two nights. Love the history regarding the hotel and the art work throughout. A delicious breakfast was included each morning. We ate one dinner out on the Veranda which was outstanding. Walking distance to town with good restaurants and shops. Historic Post Office across the street - Be sure to take a peak at the mural.
The one issue we had was the air conditioning in our room did not seem to work. The service people checked twice and thought they got it working but to hot during the night. Serviceman even said it may need a new unit. Would recommend adults only. Close to Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods

Room Tip: Corner room on 2nd floor near the elevator with view of town was great except for lack of air cond.

This is truly a Grand Lady of a hotel. First of all I would like to thank Maggie and Sean at the front desk, Anthony the concierge, Bubba the valet and last but not least Wayne the guitarist on Thursday night you guys rock. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to meet the rest of the staff. They are all excellent.
My wife and I spent our anniversary here and it was the best. The food and service was to die for. The rooms were very clean and the furniture was not your typical hotel fare. This is like your favorite victorian home. Mind you this is a hotel for couples and the older crowd.
We are planning a return trip over Thanksgiving and the next SEVERAL anniversaries. I wish I could give it more stars. No wonder it has be a Four Diamond hotel so many times.
Thanks Guys you ROCK !!!!!!!!

We decided to go to Manitou Springs for the first time. I found this hotel online and found the reviews were very good. It did not disappoint. Beautiful hotel filled with history. The staff went above and beyond in making our stay pleasant. The room was very clean and the view looking up at the mountains was a great way to start the day. Only complaint we had was the bed. Very hard and uncomfortable in our opinion.

Highly recommend the valet parking for $7 a day. Well worth it and the doormen/valets were the best!!

Hotel stay also included a breakfast buffet which we found superb! You are charged $9 a day per person for tips and services. At first I thought this was steep. But by the time you figure the valets and housekeeping and the breakfast buffet, it's worth every penny. We tipped valets extra because I think the went and above and beyond in service.

Overall experience was wonderful. Highly recommend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
What makes a hotel truly special?Prestige? Romance? Luxury? As a four diamond Colorado Springs Hotel, these attributes are very important, and we have each of them in abundance, but none of them matter as much as... the stories. The stories that are started here, by brides and grooms celebrating their weddings. The stories that are commemorated here, when couples choose us for their anniversaries. The stories that are shared here, when family vacations become unforgettable memories. Our stories really do matter: they define who we are. You see, as the premier historic hotel of the Greater Colorado Springs area, our history is forever intertwined with what we are today. In fact, The Cliff House is older than the State of Colorado itself! And just like your story, we have had our ups and downs: we have played host to famous dignitaries, and we have been a barracks for soldiers. Later floods and fires have even threatened our hotel's very existence. But, just like you, we've persevered. After our extensive remodel and grand re-opening in 1999, we quickly proved that The Cliff House is once again one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels. Nestled at the foot of majestic Pikes Peak, we've managed to keep all the trappings of Victorian elegance and luxury and also become a leader in innovative room features with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2001, we've consecutively received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for both the hotel and our dining room. Our dining room has also received the DiRoNa Award, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, every year. From our world-class fine dining, our amazing rooms, personalized service, our fun new bar and grill, to the limitless experiences and activities Manitou Springs has to offer: we are confident that you will love your stay here... and what a story you'll have to tell! We're proud of our history. Come share yours with us! We're within ten minutes of downtown Colorado Springs, but (rest assured) a world away! ... more   less
