“Experience History in Style!”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

We arrived in Manitou Springs, CO and drove through the town to look for a special place to stay for the night.

The Cliff House was tucked away on a back street and we were so glad we found it! The beautiful and historical hotel was a wonderful place to call home for a couple of days! The room was very beautifully decorated, as was the entire facility. The large front porch was a very enjoyable setting for dinner, and later for catching up on e-mails. We dined on the porch and the food was fantastic! Cliff House's chef is very good!

We highly recommend Cliff House!

We are glad you found us too. It is nice to hear you enjoyed the Veranda as it is a wonderful place to sit and relax or to enjoy a drink or a meal.

Very relaxing, wonderful staff, comfortable bed and room, perfect location. They also have a humidifier for those not used to the dry climate! Breakfast is ok, but everything else makes up for it. Rooms are really clean, they even leave chocolates everyday and a wonderful newsletter.

We a happy you enjoyed your stay. As you pointed out, our humidity level is a little drier than St. Louis. Thank you for mentioning our nightly newsletter. We try to impart a bit of our history as well as some of the happenings in town. We hope to see you again soon.

We have stayed at what are supposed to be some of the nicest hotels in the States and Europe, but you are not going to find anything better than the Cliff House. It is definately on a par with the Broadmoor Hotel. It is a refurbished 1890s hotel with a rich history and the charm that goes with that sort of landmark. But don't expect a little place with Mom and Pop running it. It has been completely re-done from top to bottom. Our room, the Teddy Roosevelt Suite, was magnificent. Beautifully appointed, fine linen, very fancy five pice bath with heated towel rack, sunken tub, double sinks and steram shower. Their breakfast buffet was included and you won't confuse it with Comnfort Inn. Everything well prepared and warm.

We were so impressed that my wife is planning to have a "girls retreat" there next year.

I took my mother to Manitou Springs for a mother-daughter getaway and we stayed at the Cliff House. It was wonderful. We had a spacious and well appointed Jr. Suite. It is located in the heart of downtown so after our car was safely valet parked, we could walk to the shops and restaurants. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room had a comfy couch as well as a nice table and chairs so we could play games or snack. The bathroom was laid out so well. Many electrical outlets and plenty of counter space for two women to put all their cosmetics, etc. Our room was on the west end with beautiful windows and a view from up on the hill. My mom enjoyed it so much she wants to spend her anniversary there. The chocolates and turn down service were a nice surprise, too! Can't wait to return when it is a little warmer so we can sit out on the beautiful veranda and play Scrabble!

Room Tip: Our corner junior suite was spacious with lots of views and light!

We spent a weekend here, just a quick getaway from the late-season snow. Everything was perfect. We're not used to heated toilet seats and towel warmers, and certainly not accustomed to chocolate-covered strawberries at bedside each night, but we could become. We enjoyed the dining room only one night and wish we'd eaten there both evenings -- it was excellent. We left with no complaints. We got our money's worth, and more.

Room Tip: We got a suite (there are several). I was not expansive, if room is all you're looking for, but...

We went to Manitou Springs to get away from house hunting. We stayed at the Cliff House. Great experience. The service was superb. The front desk staff was always helpful with directions and suggestions. The room was lovely with a fireplace and a view. This is a great place to stay and has a lot of charm. The complimentary breakfast was very good too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the town.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
What makes a hotel truly special?Prestige? Romance? Luxury? As a four diamond Colorado Springs Hotel, these attributes are very important, and we have each of them in abundance, but none of them matter as much as... the stories. The stories that are started here, by brides and grooms celebrating their weddings. The stories that are commemorated here, when couples choose us for their anniversaries. The stories that are shared here, when family vacations become unforgettable memories. Our stories really do matter: they define who we are. You see, as the premier historic hotel of the Greater Colorado Springs area, our history is forever intertwined with what we are today. In fact, The Cliff House is older than the State of Colorado itself! And just like your story, we have had our ups and downs: we have played host to famous dignitaries, and we have been a barracks for soldiers. Later floods and fires have even threatened our hotel's very existence. But, just like you, we've persevered. After our extensive remodel and grand re-opening in 1999, we quickly proved that The Cliff House is once again one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels. Nestled at the foot of majestic Pikes Peak, we've managed to keep all the trappings of Victorian elegance and luxury and also become a leader in innovative room features with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2001, we've consecutively received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for both the hotel and our dining room. Our dining room has also received the DiRoNa Award, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, every year. From our world-class fine dining, our amazing rooms, personalized service, our fun new bar and grill, to the limitless experiences and activities Manitou Springs has to offer: we are confident that you will love your stay here... and what a story you'll have to tell! We're proud of our history. Come share yours with us! We're within ten minutes of downtown Colorado Springs, but (rest assured) a world away! ... more   less
