Took my wife here for her birthday - got a romance package in the Firestone suite. The room was fantastic - very unique and the wine, rose and strawberries that came with the package were very nice. Only downsides were the music that kept up until 10pm - there must be a loud bar nearby, and the bed itself - which is about 5 years overdue for a mattress replacement. We were both in the center of the bed due to the depression in it.

Had dinner downstairs that was good but not great. Overall a nice experience - 4 star, not 5 star.

We stayed there the night of May 27th in room 205, which was prince Ferdinand suite. The bathroom was spectacular, a heated seat as well as a heated towel rack, 2 sinks and a nice tub. Great view. The major down side was that we could hear water running through the pipes ALL NIGHT LONG probably for cooling purposes. We couldn't sleep all night. The manager, Carroll was super understanding and we agreed on a $75.00 deduction. Thank you to Carroll for being the perfect manager! We will be back!

The Cliff House is a classic hotel that has been well maintained, upgraded and yet has kept the details of its time. The restaurant was wonderful with truly talented staff, incredible food (wow) and quiet, romantic dinner music. I loved it!

Loved this place! Very charming with spectacular rooms.Hotel service was great and just loved the close walk to the heart of Manitou Springs. Our room was way above our expectations, very large and roomy.

Room Tip: Book in advance.

We stayed at the Cliff House for five nights. For anyone thinking of booking a stay at this hotel, I'd recommend dealing with the hotel direct. We booked through a third party (Expedia) and on arrival were allocated the smallest room we'd had on our three week road trip, despite paying about $165 plus taxes and fees a night. The room had one window looking out at a wall, enough room to walk round the bed and a small shower room. Nothing like the picture I had seen on the website. Luckily, on complaint, the desk staff were kind to us and changed us to a much better room (a suite with jacuzzi bath) so we were relieved and grateful.
The upsides to this hotel are:- excellent location for Manitou itself, friendly staff, nice bar with good, hearty food (can't speak for the restaurant as didn't look to be our sort of food), decent breakfast (good choices, though after five days it was samey as nothing changed).
The downsides are:- thin walls between rooms (maybe we had particularly noisy neighbours but on occasion it kept my husband - who normally drops off anywhere - from getting to sleep), creaky floors (go for a fourth floor room so you have no one above you!) and the extra costs which all add up and were more than we would have tipped as only used the bar once and didn't make use of the restaurant ($7 for valet service which you need to pay if you have a car or pay to park elsewhere and $9 each a day for service/tips).
All in all, we enjoyed our time here but if we were to go back would probably choose something else! especially if staying more than a night or two.

Room Tip: Chose 4th floor, preferably at the end of a corridor.

This was the best place I have ever stayed at! Period! The staff was amazing and super friendly. Answered all of our questions, even the silly ones. The tub was huge! My fiancee and I really enjoyed sitting in the tub together. Oh and the heated toilet seat? Oh my!! There were ladies playing bridge when we checked in and were still there when we made our trips back to the hotel after wandering around the town. It will definitely be a ritual for my fiancee and I to stay there! The only down side was the coffee, but everything else made up for coffee. Will be back there. The room was great, had a fireplace in it, bed was super comfortable. Well worth every penny.

We arrived in Manitou Springs, CO and drove through the town to look for a special place to stay for the night.

The Cliff House was tucked away on a back street and we were so glad we found it! The beautiful and historical hotel was a wonderful place to call home for a couple of days! The room was very beautifully decorated, as was the entire facility. The large front porch was a very enjoyable setting for dinner, and later for catching up on e-mails. We dined on the porch and the food was fantastic! Cliff House's chef is very good!

We highly recommend Cliff House!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
What makes a hotel truly special?Prestige? Romance? Luxury? As a four diamond Colorado Springs Hotel, these attributes are very important, and we have each of them in abundance, but none of them matter as much as... the stories. The stories that are started here, by brides and grooms celebrating their weddings. The stories that are commemorated here, when couples choose us for their anniversaries. The stories that are shared here, when family vacations become unforgettable memories. Our stories really do matter: they define who we are. You see, as the premier historic hotel of the Greater Colorado Springs area, our history is forever intertwined with what we are today. In fact, The Cliff House is older than the State of Colorado itself! And just like your story, we have had our ups and downs: we have played host to famous dignitaries, and we have been a barracks for soldiers. Later floods and fires have even threatened our hotel's very existence. But, just like you, we've persevered. After our extensive remodel and grand re-opening in 1999, we quickly proved that The Cliff House is once again one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels. Nestled at the foot of majestic Pikes Peak, we've managed to keep all the trappings of Victorian elegance and luxury and also become a leader in innovative room features with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2001, we've consecutively received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for both the hotel and our dining room. Our dining room has also received the DiRoNa Award, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, every year. From our world-class fine dining, our amazing rooms, personalized service, our fun new bar and grill, to the limitless experiences and activities Manitou Springs has to offer: we are confident that you will love your stay here... and what a story you'll have to tell! We're proud of our history. Come share yours with us! We're within ten minutes of downtown Colorado Springs, but (rest assured) a world away! ... more   less
