We celebrated an occasion, it was wonderful as always! We had the trout and the salmon on the menu- both delicious! We also ordered the mushroom en croute appetizer- delectable! The wine list is expansive, but the sommelier was very helpful. We decided to top off with chocolate and port wine- alas no dark chocolate on the dessert menu! We ordered the port anyway and were pleased when our port was brought out with extra "house" chocolates to take up to our room. We had reserved a room as well (for the complete romance package) but were so stuffed- we just fell into bed and slept the sleep of the satiated tastebuds! All in all it was fabulous!

The Cliff House dining is not cheap, though not the most expensive meal we have ever had. What it was was an excellent experience and one we would repeat. We had a great time.

We arrived for a 7:00 reservation, which unexpectedly seemed to be late as far as seating at good tables. We were placed at one of the last remaining tables by the entranceway, and nearby the solo acoustic guitar player, which looked to be a so-so location...yet turned out NOT to detract from the meal. However, if you want a nice table alongside the window, you might consider an earlier reservation.

Our service was provided by Tom (principal) and Megan (delivery/clearing), who were attentive without being part of our private conversations. We especially found Tom to be well-informed on what the kitchen was preparing, and able to answer some culinary curiosity questions such as the technique used to create a parmesan cheese funnel in which one of the salads was served.

We both chose salads which were creatively assembled and presented, and recommended. Our main courses were the vegetarian Blue Beet Filet (with excellent "Blue D' Auvergne Cream" sauce) and the Colorado Lamb Rack (3). These were well enjoyed.

Since we were staying at the Cliff House to celebrate our 17th anniversary (and my birthday), so we decided to splurge a little and try the night's special dessert: a raspberry soufflé, with coulis and a white chocalte (ganache?). It added a light sweetness to round out our meal. Plus coffee to balance out the wine from before and during dinner (nice wine list though I might have liked to have a Malbec by the glass instead of the Shiraz that I used with the lamb).

Overall, this was a fun meal and an experience we would repeat: good food, creatively presented, with decent service and a nice atmosphere (full room, nice guitar, old hotel with character). Thank you all for making our meal a memorable one.

This is a beautiful restaurant located in a beautiful location. Very warm and inviting, the service is very good, but the food does not quite live up to the hype, service, or price. If they serve brunch or lunch the prices might be more in line, but I do not know if they do. I'm not saying don't go, just beware of the costs. The information state $30 average, but that is only for the entree. We ended up paying over $140 with tip.

Always a good experience when the service is so understated you hardly notice it. We had 4 of us and they had 2 waiters attending to us. Impeccable service. Food delicious; I had the pork and it was large, thick, and sooo tender. Amuse-bouche a classy touch. Trio of creme brulees recommended. Grilled caesar salad way above average. Atmosphere lovely in old hotel of course. All staff solicitous and friendly. You don't mind spending for fancy meal when the details are all there. Attached (I hope) is a pic of the mushroom en croute, lovely presentation.

We had a fantastic dinner from The Cliff House's New Year's Even pre-fixe menu. We were greeted and seated promptly upon our arrival (we had a reservation) and addressed by name the entire evening. The staff (maitre d, and 2 dedicated waiters) were attentive and responsive but never overbearing. The wine list was extensive with options at all price points. We were served an amouse bouche which was an unexpected treat as it was not listed on the menu. Our salads were very large and very fresh. Two types of bread were served with an herb butter. The entrees (duck and prime rib) were both excellent and the vegetables were cooked and flavored to perfection. We were served a vanilla bean panna cotta that is one of the absolute best desserts I have ever eaten! The dining room was really beautiful and I'll bet it would be lovely at breakfast time with the sun streaming in. We had been waiting a long time to experience The Cliff House, but it's going into our permanent rotation. Thank you for a fantastic start to a wonderful New Year!
