We stayed in July. The hotel room was clean, the pool was great. Not sure why the last review commented on the pool, both the kids and I used the pool and it was fine.
The bathroom in our room was very small. The TV was an old, small tv but we weren't in the room much so that didn't matter. All I cared about was if it was clean and yes it was.
Staff was nice about asking what we needed done in room when we weren't there. If you're on a budget, and looking for affordable with great location but is just an average room, then this is your place.
I would stay again definately.

When looking for a place to stay with our three kids in Manitou, we had two requirements - a pool and wifi. Turns out neither panned out here. Once we arrived we asked about the wifi. "Well, you sort of have to be in the office or near the pool because the signal won't reach into the cabins." So, for all practical purposes, there was no wifi. And the pool, advertised as "heated," was most certainly NOT heated and was too cold for swimming. My oldest kid wouldn't get into it anyway because of the oily scum floating on the surface. My kids were terribly disappointed. Yet the office staff was defensive, telling me it was "windy" and that was why the pool wasn't clean, and then moments later coming to my door with a thermometer to show me the temperature reading. "It said 78 degrees at the pool but it's come down since I measured it." Which is a weird thing to say... why would the temperature come down when the ambient temperature was above 78? And furthermore, 78 degrees is not a warm pool by any means. She said, "Well, it's not a hot tub." Speaking of hot tubs, there was a hot tub but it wasn't working when we were there. Housekeeping was okay, though our coffee supply wasn't replenished and we ran out on the second day. Our bathroom sink wouldn't drain and we did notify the office, and it was much improved by the time we got back to our cabin that evening. Overall, I'd say the stay was mediocre, which is a shame because the cabins themselves are very cool. The decor was more 1990s thrift shop than 1920s adobe cabin, but the rooms were clean. There are no doubt better places to stay, and we'll not be using the El Colorado again.

We provide internet cables in all cabins for internet access. We advertise internet service not wifi. Wifi may be accessed in our office, front porch and by the pool but not in the cabins due to the steel mesh & concrete blocks used to build these cabins (an excellent sound barrier). Colorado & Manitou Springs is known for our high winds and late afternoon showers. The temperature outside was 70 degrees and very windy. The water was 78 degrees. The original hot tub was taken out of service and a replacement was installed in ONE DAY on - June 24, 2013. This is the EXCELLENT service we provide, ensuring our guests a pleasurable stay. The reviewer failed to state a new hot tub was placed in service the next day. Sun-tan lotion is filtered through the system and removed. Some guests do prefer an indoor pool which may have worked better for the guest. Our pool is an outdoor heated pool. It is one of the largest outdoor pools in Manitou Springs. We welcome your visit for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

We stayed 1 week in a 2Q,shower only cabin. There was 1bed room with a door and the other bed was in the main room like you would find in a regular motel. There was a small fridge and microwave. No coffee pot in the room but did ask at check in and was given one with packets of coffee. Each bedroom had a tv. We did have an internet cable in our room which was great.WiFi only worked when by the office or pool, The room was very clean. The beds were not to bad. Took the hot water in the shower about 3min to get hot but once it got going it was fine. They advertise a heated pool but according to the kids it was not at all warm but that didn't stop them from using it. Liked that this place was close to everything we wanted to do. Would stay again.

We arrived to discover that the room we had reserved was uninhabitable because a previous guest had spilled milk on the carpet. The hosts had already moved us to a two room adobe and did everything they could to make sure we had a good stay. This turned out to be the perfect place for us to sleep while we visited family in Colorado Springs. It was close and convenient.

This isn't a fancy hotel with lots of amenities, but it is clean and comfortable. You have to plug your computer into a port to access internet. There is no breakfast buffet, but the rooms have coffee pots, microwaves and refrigerators. A lot of them have a mini kitchen. Housekeeping visits daily and leaves everything spic and span.

We had stayed here years ago. This time, we were traveling with dogs over the Christmas holiday. I wanted a room large enough to hold two large folding dog crates since we would be a week. We got a cabin with two rooms - it was great since I am early riser and husband is not. Dogs and I could use the other room early in the morning - turn TV on. Rooms were wonderfully warm, nice shower, good bed, park right outside your door. Great place to walk the dogs around the large complex.

Wonderful place for families. Picnic table outside most cabins. in nicer weather barbecues scattered around, vollyball court, pool, play equipment and those wonderful Buffalo in the front yard!

We stayed at the El colorado Lodge last weekend and had the best time ever. Our cabin was abosolutly charming. We had a cozy fire both evenings there. The cabins are spotless and the service was top notch. The owners are truly the nicest people we have ever met. We have already made a return reservation for December and plan on going back every November when my mother visits from North Dakota. Check it out and have a great experience for yourself. Thank you El Colorado Lode and see you all soon.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have fire places.
