“Romantic, Expensive, Worth It”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

We've eaten here on multiple occasions, once with the family but usually just my husband and I for a romantic night out while staying at Blue Skies Inn in Manitou. Occasionally we just go to the cellar and get cheese and chocolate with wine, but we prefer the whole experience. It's expensive. But you should already know that going in! It's worth it. It's about $100 for two people for a 4 course meal. Have water if you want to keep your bill low, but you come here to celebrate a special occasion, date night, whatever, treat yourself! Their wine list is amazing, but we always do the wine flight. 3 perfectly paired glasses of wine to match our meal. They usually have a seasonal salad as well as a special cheese, be sure to hear what they are. We've done both the regular meat selection as well as the exotic selection and both were fantastic. For dessert, no matter what you get (we highly recommend the Flaming a Turtle) you can ask them to add a liqueur to your chocolate then light it on fire...before they light it get your marshmallow ready to go and roast it when they light it! One thing I love about The Mona Lisa is they will bring you extra of the desserts. I only really like to dip the angel food cake, so they always bring me extra!

Service is always spectacular. It is true you get a grill rather then pot of oil for the main course and if you grew up in the 70's like me you might think "this is not fondue!"...we paused on our first visit but actually enjoyed the grilling and quite honestly it kept the food lighter and we appreciated it as being a different experience and now prefer it to the oil! (Be sure to melt your cheese under the grill and get it all melted and bubbly!)

This is the best local spot for a long, quiet, relaxed romantic evening with great food, great service and great wine! We will continue to come back for years to come.

“Average but overpriced food, terrible logistics”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014 via mobile

Our server was excellent. But, details matter and they adversely affected our experience. One bite each of: chicken, mushroom, brat worst, filet, flat iron steak, salmon & shrimp. Rather than cooking in a broth or oil, a large plug in fry plate is provided. The plate is plugged in at the table and the cord was under the table between our feet. Kept getting my foot caught. Cuts of beef were over salted & tough. Meats were poorly seasoned. I needed a steak knife but one was not provided. The table was too small to juggle all of the little plates. Little touches-paper napkins rather than linen in the chip/bread baskets, multi colored w/ red tortilla chips, stale French bread, mediocre salad course. The cheese was the high point of the evening-it was great. Dessert was ok. I will go elsewhere the next time I want fondue.

“Great wine bar”

Food was great. Had a groupon which helped with the cost. A little pricey otherwise. But it was fun!

The dining experience at Mona Lisa Fondue Restaurant was superb and the fondue was to die for. This was our first fondue experience and we will definitely be back!

“pretty good, but way over priced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2014

Have you been to the Melting Pot? It is a similar idea, but not as well executed. Two courses of fondue and one course on an electric skillet at the table. The plugged in skillet definitely doesn't have the same charm as cooking in a boiling pot of broth or on a heated stone like at Trappers. Had a nice atmosphere, but the food itself left a lot to be desired, especially at that price.
