“Awesome Paranormal Investigation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2013

Our paranormal investigation team spent 3 nights investigating the castle. Wow!!!! There is so much history in the castle, and so many "guests"!!! The castle was built by a French priest for his very wealthy mother. After living there for only 4 years, the castle became a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients. Many people passed and "some are still there"!! There are daily tours of this 14,000 sq. ft. castle. Definitely a must see when in Manitou Springs, Co.

“LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES”

If there is a castle in town, we try not to miss it.

When you arrive you may either park near the entrance or you can drive up a windy road to a parking lot overlooking the house. If you have problems with steep stairs you would want to park below. We parked up on top and there is a nice garden path as we made our descent. We went by a lovely tea room. That looked awesome. You need reservations, however ahead of time. There is always next time! Call the tea room at 719-884-4109 to reserve a spot.

This house is very beautiful. We did the 1st of the day tour, at 10 am. The cost was $7.00 for seniors 60 +. The tour started with a volunteer who explained about the castle and gave everyone a step by step guide. She was a children’s author and we purchased one of her books for our grandchild, which she signed. Proceeds go towards the museum.

The self guided tour pamphlet was excellent & then you could go at your own pace. We really enjoyed the Fire Department exhibits. For those that have a difficult time with stairs, there are chairlifts to help. We spent about an hour or so at the castle. Before you leave, check out the gift shop. You will go through it to exit. It is very nice. We bought some tea.

In case you are wondering, bathrooms are available in 3 places along the tour.

“Ready a little history of the place before you go.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2013 via mobile

A tour guide would have made this a little more interesting. Overall it is well kept, interesting furnishings, photos, art. We did not try the afternoon tea, I especially loved the room with huge picture windows where you can see the beautiful mountains. Must see and visit this place.
