“Must Do...Out Of Sight”
Reviewed 8 October 2008

Sept. 13, 2008 Loved the CogRailway. See my full review on this under Pikes Peak Cog Railway. It is something everyone should do at least once. Book reservation in advance. I did three months before. Morning trips are best. Manitou Springs is also a lovely little town. Eat at The Loop Mexican Restaurant and The Mason Jar. Definitely go see Garden of the Gods...It's free! Colorado Springs is close so also see Seven Falls, Olympic Center and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We got to pet a Wallabey. Enjoy Colorado as much as we did.

“MUST SEE!! But, listen to the reviews or you will regret going!!!!”
Reviewed 9 September 2008

This is the ONLY way to go mountain climbing. Forget hiking or driving up twisty turny mountain roads with no guardrails. Take the train to the top and sit back and enjoy the view! But, listen to the reviews. Bring a warm coat and ONLY sit on the 3 passenger side, not the 2 passenger side. Since the seats are assigned automatically by their computer, if you are only 2 people, you MUST buy three seats. IT'S WORTH THE EXTRA EXPENSE. You will have 100x better views and you will have a lot more comfort and room for the 2+ hours you are cooped up on the train. The best way for a free upgrade is to stop by the station a couple hours before your trip. If you are the first 3 tickets sold for that specific ride, you ride up front in the first 3 seats with no one next to you or facing you. It's like being in first class and you can talk to the engineer who is sitting right next to you. If you only go once, do it right and enjoy it!!!!!!

“Pikes Peak Cog”
Reviewed 8 September 2008

Rode the Cog up Pikes Peak and found it to be an awesome experience. We definitely did not want to drive up! Scenery beautiful. When we reached the top it was foggy and they where shutting down the road up so anyone who had driven up had to be escorted back down.....so glad we did not have to deal with that. The only problem I see was that they only give you 30 min on top which was hardly long enough to stand in line to check-out. If the weather had been prettier it really probably wouldn't have seemed like enough time. I would really plan to do this again if ever there.

“25 minutes at the top”
Reviewed 7 September 2008

If you don't want to drive or hike up Pike's Peak, the cog railway is the way to go. It's a cramped, jostling ride so sit with someone you like.

The tickets are pricey. So are the gift shops. The scenery is wonderful and there's a lot to see. We introduced ourselves to some of the people sitting around us. That was nice. If you go you will be facing directly across from someone.

There was too little time when we reached the top. We had 25 minutes to go through the crowded gift shop, find the restrooms and then go out to see the awesome views. You cannot possibly see much of the view in that amount of time. I could have stayed up there at least an hour to see the sights alone.

I think next time I'll drive up.

“Our favorite attraction in the area”
Reviewed 22 August 2008

We are from a very flat part of the country so going up the mountain was a treat. The scenery on the way up was beautiful and our guide was very entertaining. It was a beautiful clear day so the views from the top were fabulous! The only disappointment was that we saw almost no wildlife.

Make sure to dress in layers and bring water. If you are coming from a low elevation area, you might want to wait a day or 2 to acclimate to the altitude before you go up Pike's Peak.
