“You'll never believe this place!”

The Silver Saddle Motel in Manitou Springs, Colorado (which is a historic little corner of Colorado Springs) is our family's newest favorite place to stay in Colorado...this place is about 50 footsteps from the entrance to Garden of the Gods right on the edge of Manitou Springs. All the best restaurants are walking distance away. Tourist hot spots and local dives surround the Silver Saddle on all sides. Very clean outdoor pool, and hot tubs and THERE ARE FULL SIZE HOT TUBS INSIDE THE ROOMS! I've never seen this, not even in newer hotels.

This place is right out of the 50's but newly remodeled and immaculately clean. Complimentary continental breakfast and a free newspaper delivered to your door every morning. In room refrigerators and microwaves. Nice big lawn for picnics or for the kids to play on...and pets can stay with your for free!

If you're in Colorado Springs, you have to check this place out!

  • Liked — Proximity to the mountains, in-room full size hot tubs, peace and quiet
  • Disliked — had to wait at front desk to check in - very busy...

When we arrived we knew the Motel was sold out, we reserved a room with a hot tub for $105.00. When we got to the room it was in the "basement" area of the motel. The room number was 354 which was under the 100 rooms under the parking. It was very dark and once we added water to the Hot Tub and turned on the jets the whole room fogged up. We couldn't open the draps because we were right where the parking lot was on the West side of the motel. We couldn't open the windows because it was too cold. So the room got very humid. It took about 40 minutes to fill the tub which was the size of a Queen size bed. Skip the Hottub rooms and go for a standard. It was ridoulous.

Before we even got there we were impressed with the courtesy and homey service we got. The best motel in the area.

This motel was a joy to stay at. John the manger was very helpful, and the housekeeping was excellent. The room was very comfortable, and it lived up to the AAA rating Highly recommended.

I made reservations on the phone and spoke with the manager John. We wanted one of the hot tub suites. He said there was one available with 3 queen beds, one of them being in a separate room. He also asked that we arrive after 1 pm as this room was being used the night before, he also said we would be staying in room 210. We arrived at 4:30 and was told there was no such room - at all - and that all hot tub rooms were booked and had been for some time, also that Room 210 was not a hot tub room. John was not around and the person at the front desk did not know where he was. We were offered another room that had 3 queen beds (even though we only needed 2 beds) and we accepted as it was late and we were ready for a room. We paid for the room. When we got to the room the door was standing wide open and it was evident the maid had been there - all the bedding was spread around the room, no sheets on the beds - but there was no one in the room or even close by. We went back to the office and requested our money back. We were given our money back but the comment we were given was that this was happening a lot lately - reservations being made for rooms that either did not exist at all or were booked for the time requested. It seems to me that you are told "whatever you want to hear" when making the phone reservations and when you get there you are "offered" something else. I also find it very interesting that the previous rating from another customer has been changed since I viewed it - as that person had stated that the room he requested was not available when he arrived. This is a shame as the rooms appeared to be alright - too bad it is being managed poorly.

This motel had large, clean rooms with great beds. When I called to make a reservation for the busy 4th of July weekend the family suites were booked. The owner, John, was more than accomadating when he OFFERED me two rooms [2Q's each] for the price of a family suite [3 beds]. Plus we had two bathrooms.
