“Well worth the stop”
Reviewed 19 November 2013 via mobile

Had a great time here. Our kids (7, 5, 2) all thought it was the highlight of our trip to Denver. Highly recommend checking it out and we are not history or dinosaur buffs by any stretch. It was just a cool place to check out.

“you don't have to love dinosaurs to enjoy this”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

Dinosaur Ridge was a fascinating place to visit, especially if you enjoy anything that has to do with dinosaurs.
The ridge runs along a road that wraps around a mountain in a U shape. You can walk along the road, which is about a 2 mile walk roundtrip, or you can pay $5.00 for the guided tour on a bus. I paid for the bus tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of interesting facts. We stopped at 3 locations along the route and got out of the bus, but the bus also made multiple stops along the way for us to look and listen to the guide talk about what we were looking at. If you walk it, there are informative signs along the way to tell you what you are seeing. The road was closed to vehicle traffic except for our bus so if you walk, you don't have to worry about traffic.
So what do you see?...dinosaur bones and dinosaur tracks. This isn't like a museum where you see this stuff behind glass. You get to see the bones actually embedding in the rock where they found them. You can touch them too. There are also lots of dinosaur tracks which were fascinating to see. Some of them are in an area where you can touch them so you can get your picture with your hand in a real dinosaur track. The guide also taught us info about the geology of the area, and you get to see the Golden Fault.
There is a visitor center and gift shop with lots of rocks, minerals and dinosaur items for sale. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
This was a great outdoor activity, with pretty views of the surrounding area and red rocks, and I would highly recommend it, especially if you have any interest in dinosaurs.

“Once in a lifetime, super!”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

This is a "do not miss" if you are in the Denver area and some of the best $5 I have ever spent. I have never seen anything like it. You can either walk the ridge for free (app 2mi hike) or take the bus tour. We are in our 40's and in relatively good shape but are still struggling a bit with the altitude after our recent arrival. I recommend the bus to reduce tachycardia and huffing and puffing. The ridge is a diagonal incline up the ridge. Our bus tour was app 1 hour so imagine walking might take 2 or 3 hours. Our bus guide, Kevin, was awesome. We ended up getting a "private tour" since no one else was there. It was like having our own personal paleontologist. No question was too much for him- and believe me, we had plenty not only about the dinsoarus but also about geology and modern zoology. It was so powerful to actually see dinosaur tracks in the rocks next to the road. I would suggest pairing this with a visit to the Morrison Natural History museum a few miles down the road. This is not just for little boys who like their stegosauruses! Highly recommended!

“A Must See!”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

Heard about this attraction while researching things to see and do near Red Rocks. I was so surprised to find out that for $5.00 you get a narrated 45 min bus tour of Dinosaur Ridge. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get up close to see actual dinosaur prints and fossils. Our guide was very knowledgable and took her time to show us everything on the tour. You can walk the trail if you do not want to go on the bus tour. There is also a visitor center that has more artifacts to see and gift shop.

“The Best $5 I've Ever Spent”
Reviewed 25 September 2013 via mobile

For $5 per person you can hop on a bus with a very informative guide who will drive you around the 2 mile loop and discuss what you are seeing. It was fascinating to me that I could touch real dinosaur footprints! Definitely do not miss out in this side of the road stop.
