“Unique Hot Spring day trip ! Must do !”
Reviewed 26 August 2012

We stopped there on the way to Colorado Spring from Aspen. So glad we did.
My son had a blast on the $5 unlimited water slide and Chalk Creek which has many different temp small\tiny pool. Water is crystal clear and not taste salty like other hot spring. We spent almost 5 hr there.

Tip:
1. bring a water shoe if u want to venture out in Chalk Creek
2. bring some picnic food, if u plan to stay there more than 2 hr since there's no snack bar on site.

Only con i can think of is that there's not place to sit on the big hot spring pool u have to stand in the water.

Not many places where you can sit in a creek bed and have warm water & no odor. Great staff, amazing cabins, the new pools & spas are a great addition and indicate a commitment to ongoing improvements. Will go back again & again. Yes, some parts of the resort are older, but not many areas have not been renovated - adds to the charm of the place, very cool history.

Room Tip: Cabins right by the creek are great and fairly private

The experience of soaking in hot sandy pool beds right on the creek that runs through the resort is amazing...if you are agile enough to walk over slippery boulders to get there. No path leads you--so beware and bring some water shoes. We enjoyed the several choices of pools, from soaking to lap swim, especially because the geothermal water is odorless (unlike most hot springs that smell of sulfur).
This is a full-service Colorado-style "resort" in that they have lodging; a restaurant;gift shop; and massage therapists, however, "resort" may be a bit of an exaggeration for those who expect opulence and luxury and whine about lack of 5-star service. It is really rustic Colorado Boho-Chic at its best. Our family of 4 stayed in a log cabin and we loved it since we are outdoors folk who also appreciate a unique mountain setting (hot springs dates back to the 1800's). We have gone back to use the hot spring pools only at least 5-times this past spring/summer and enjoyed it just as much in winter. .Cost is $17 per day per adult; $12 seniors; free for children under 4 yrs.; and free if you stay there.
Also, for those who want the full Colorado-cowboy experience, most may not know that they also offer guided horseback trail rides from their stable on County Rd. 162 where you can get a fabulous view of the Collegiate Peaks and spot herds of antelope on the prairie.

Room Tip: Ask for a cabin closest to the hot springs. Also, cabins are a better-bet than motel-style rooms at...

Mt. Princeton Resort has amazing potential!! The location is ideal and the view is breathtaking! My family and I stayed in the cliffside rooms. While my kids loved the waterslide, the river, and the pools, service is lacking among the personalities of the staff. Luke warm at best.

Before arriving we were worried about all of the reviews....especially my hair turning green. I called to confirm my reservation and inquired about the green hair incidents. The woman on the phone said "well we recommend you swim with wet conditioner in your hair so it doesn't turn green!" What? Not the response I was hoping for. Being the nice person I am, I even tipped her off to trip advisor and told her about all of the reviews. She could've cared less. The thing that worries me the MOST about this place is that they are not responding to ANY trip advisor reviews which is unprofessional and it leads me to believe they don't want to improve. Yikes!

We had an okay experience with the food. It wasn't the best but the food service staff was wonderful! The new spa for adults is really beautiful and brand new. Make sure to come during the week as the weekends are not even worth it...no room to even soak without touching someone. While we stayed over the weekend until tues we had the ENTIRE place to ourselves on mon and tues! That was fun!

I would come again but I hope the owners continue to improve the property and staff overall. Very pricey for what you get, this place is VERY spread out so it doesn't have a resort feel. It was a unique experience being so close to mountains. More like a unique hotel.

Other than the setting below the Chalk Cliffs of Mt. Princeton, there is nothing really special about the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and Resort. The bedroom I saw in the Inn was shabby. Carpets in the halls are dirty. Our cabin was comfortable, but was stark and totally lacking of any personality or decor. The hot springs are really just giant concrete swimming pools. And skip the breakfast buffet ($12 per person), as it is more fitting for a Hampton Inn, AND, they charge extra for coffee and juice, so breakfast for 2 will cost you $37.

Dear Valued Guest,

We are sorry that your stay at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort was disappointing. It is our number one goal to make our guests comfortable and have them leave with a good impression of our facility.

All of our rooms are recently remodeled. We also added air-conditioning to all of the hotel units this June. We have commissioned a local artist for wall coverings in the cabins.

We have five pools located on the property. All of our pools are filled with natural hot springs water. Each pool has a unique history. The two main pools have been in place for over 100 years. The upper pool and water slide was added years later to accommodate families. The relaxation pool was added in 2010 solely to treat our guest to a quite area. The creek pools are an untouched source of the hot springs. We also have the three cascading Japanese pools located next to the spa. These pools have three different temperature and are for adults only. Upgrades have been made around property to maintain the wonder of our hot springs.

We are sorry for your experience with the breakfast buffet. We will certainly take your feedback into consideration. We are always changing our dining options and will use your feedback to improve our offerings.

We hope that you will give Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort another opportunity to meet your expectations in the future.

Sincerely,

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort Management and Staff

Recent upgrades all well done. Friendly staff. A real vacation. New pool and spa area are relaxing. Great view of the chalk cliffs from the outdoor eating area. Excellent value for the modest room rates.

Unbelievable Scenery, everything about this resort was AWESOME! The cabins are phenomenal, the hot springs, the pools, the huge slide...there is way too much to list! The price was very reasonable, my wife and I came by ourselves the first time, brought the whole family back this year and we are already planning our trip back for next year!

Room Tip: All the rooms are EXCELLENT!
