“Wonderful Hot Springs”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

This was a very beautiful resort in the mountain of Colorado. The employees were very friendly and we had a great time. I believe this was because it was off season in early March. The only problems that we saw was the over crowding in the pools. We didn't bother going into the pools because there were so many people in them. We did, however, go into the natural springs where it's a bit too hot for children and enjoyed it very much. We noticed that the pools smelled like strong chlorine and the 3 hot spring tubs were very cloudy and didn't look clean.
My suggestion is to stay at the hotel and go into the natural springs, it's very beautiful and relaxing. There were quite a few people in there but we still found room. I'm not sure it would be crowded in summer because of the heat but it was very nice in early march when the temperature is about 40.
If you are there for a day trip be warned that there are 2 prices $18 for 2 pools and the natural springs. That's ALL you need!! Don't pay the $35 gold fee for the extra "private" pool and hot pools because it's just as crowded as the others. The only thing extra you get with the "gold" is access to showers and the juice bar (but you still have to pay) I don't even think they check for those gold bands. I saw people in the "gold" area without any bands on.
It's a great place but it's a bit pricey for what you get.
The restaurant was amazing. The food was delicious and they were stocked with very delicious wines and cocktails. It was a very nice high-end restaurant.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback as well as your business. It sounds like you visited during Spring Break which is a very busy time for us at Mt. Princeton. All of our pools are cleaned daily and attendants are trained to check chlorine levels regularly. The natural hot springs in the creek are not treated with any chemicals whatsoever.

Standard access at the Bathhouse does provide shower facilities in the locker rooms. Gold access is age restricted and also offers complimentary lockers and towels, luxury amenities in locker rooms, use of our steam rooms, sauna, and fitness room and classes. I have shared your experience with our spa supervisor as a reminder of the importance of checking wristbands and water quality.

As our popularity grows, we explore options for expansion to accommodate demand. We hope you will visit again soon.

Best Wishes,

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort Management

We came up this weekend and after a long history of staying up at Mount Princeton, sad to stay we will never come back and would never recommend it to anyone!!! The pools were unsanitary, over crowed with a ton of non- hotel guests, and an open policy were they have no capacity limits per there hotel policy. They ran out of lockers, and towels claiming it was the hotel’s lack of washing machines. The bathrooms hadn't been cleaned in lord knows when, there was urine and blood along with tons of water all over the women's bathhouse floors and stalls. It also smelled like body odder! The pools are not regularly tested and hot water can lead to nasty bacterial infection, especially when you have over 75 people in a very hot pool! The room was great the first night but the second night was a nightmare! We had noisy loud neighbors all thru the night and first thing in the morning. They were also smoking Marijuana and as a result exposed my minors as well as myself (as they happen to be connecting rooms) to second hand marijuana smoke. The hotel refused to do anything about the situation saying it was legal now despite having minors in my room and having a non-smoking policy. They also refused to change rooms or help with ventilation, which resulted in me getting sick as well as my minors. The front desk check out lady refused to let me talk with a manager, wouldn't give out a contact number, and was extremely unprofessional, condescending and totally obnoxious!!! She was beyond rude and shocked she was hired. The gave me a whopping $40.00 which doesn’t even pay for a ¼ of a trip in gasoline one- way. In summary, if you are looking for the vacation from Hell Mount Princeton is definitely it!!!

Dear Guest,

We apologize your recent stay was not to your liking and would like to take this opportunity to clarify some of the issues you raise in your review. As management did discuss with you during the second day of your stay, Spring Break is commonly a very busy time with both day and hotel guests. We added the Spa & Club and have plans for further expansion to accommodate our growing popularity. Pools are thoroughly cleaned daily and staff members are given clear practices and hourly responsibilities which include testing chlorine levels. It is true that the bathhouse had washing machines out of order this week, making demand difficult to keep up with. Due to our beautiful rural location, equipment can sometimes take longer to arrive than we would like. We do our very best in situations like this to avoid any burden on our guests. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused you and other guests.

Night security staff responds to every complaint and has authorization to remove guests from property when warranted. The legality of a substance has no effect on the ability or decision to resolve complaints. Despite the lack of evidence of smoking or loud noise, a warning was issued to the family staying next to you. Unfortunately, our 100% occupancy prevented a late night room move.

We are adamant about protecting the quality and condition of all rooms and cabins, and as such only permit smoking in two Hillside rooms. No smoking of any kind is tolerated in non-smoking rooms.

The desk agent you spoke with is a seasoned employee of many years and this is not a complaint lodged against her by guests before. We wish you the best and thank you for your feedback.

Sincerely,

Management

Ok when you get here make sure you find Josh he works in the bath house. What a nice guy and he will tell you all about the place and give you some pointers on where to go. Stay at the hotel, eat at the restaurant it's a pretty great place to hang out for a day or two.

Facilities and rooms were very nice. This is a great value. It can get a little crowded in the front pools where people pay just for the day. The spa facilities you get with a room are top notch. The only downside there is some teenagers got into the adults only pool and were unpleasant to be around. Personnel should have monitored this better. But overall very good. We will stay again!

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for your kind words and business. We greatly appreciate your feedback, and are pleased to hear you enjoyed your time spent here. We apologize that the adult only Spa and Club area was not supervised well enough and that you noticed our age restriction being broken. We will be sure to remind our Spa staff to do frequent checks in and around the Spa and Club pool areas to guarantee these rules are followed.

We hope to see you back in our neck of the woods soon!

Best Wishes,

Over all a GREAT experience. Had a ball! We went Snowmobiling over on Marshall Pass and at the end of the day, soaked in the hot springs. What I really liked was they provided a covered pool for us, not so bold guests. The lodge and club house were AWESOME and after our soak, we ordered our favorite types of wine and beer, along with an incredible fruit and cheese plate. We also ate Sunday Brunch in the dinning room. What a view and the food was good. (I just wish the waiters were more attentive) The lodge also sets at the bottom of the mountain of the town of St. Elmo, an old mining town that I wanted to see.

The only thing found disappointing was our room We paid $135 for our room in one of the row lodges and I was surprised there was no art work on the walls. Such a pretty place not to take advantage of the local artists.

But those are minor picky things that are our issue. I think anyone who visits there will have a great time! I know we will be going back again!!!!

What a beautiful place. Scenic and serene. Our group of 6 stayed in a large cabin and had plenty of room. The hot springs, river and pools were so relaxing as was the lodge and spa area. Loved the showers. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful time. We will be back!!!

While my boyfriend and I truly enjoyed the hot springs, pools, river, etc. this resort does miss the boat on the little things. The first thing we ran into was no internet unless you go to the lodge or spa buildings.....not a big deal if you could use your phone but unfortunately this was a no go also unless you have a certain provider which I think was AT&T. Hence to the lodge we go to let our families know we made it and to have some breakfast. Our breakfast and server were wonderful but I did feel the menu was rather limited considering if you want a sit down meal it's truly the only place on resort to get this. You can get panini's, chips, etc. at the juice bar.

After breakfast we head back to our room to catch the weather and realize unless we sit up on the bed you can't see the TV. I do realize this is a little thing but for a nice resort this should be a given that you can see the TV. Our bed was comfy and the room itself was nice but it was missing just the little touches you normally see in a nice resort . We did truly enjoy the different options the resort offered for enjoying the springs themselves but some of the buildings, such as were the lockers were located, were a bit old and truly just needed some TLC. This is also where some of the spa services, such as massages, were located and honestly based upon the price they charged I wouldn't do them because of the shape of what everything looked like where you received these services.

My other really big issue was after 10 if you're hungry then there is nothing available at all. The two areas where you can get prepared food are closed by ten and the store they have closed even earlier than this. My understanding is they lengthen their hours sometime soon but I have no idea when this is or to what time. So if you are hungry after 10 you either go without or make a rather long drive into town to acquire something.

While a nice resort my expectations did fall short on what the cost vs the offerings were.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for your feedback. It is disappointing that your stay was not superb. Our wi-fi network will be expanded in the coming months to service rooms and cabins. As our region grows, we hope to see other cellular providers expand service to the resort.

Our Spa & Club is just over two years old, and this is where massage services now take place. We continue to make improvements to all our facilities and amenities, and have noted your concerns about TV viewing and pool areas. The Historic Bathhouse no longer hosts massages and will be entirely remodeled when the historic registry permits our desired changes.

Unfortunately, due to our rural location, no local eateries are open past ten pm. Our high season is Memorial Day to Labor Day, at which time store hours (proposed time 8 pm) and bar hours (proposed time 11 pm ) are extended on the weekends.

It is our goal to provide the best of modern conveniences in a naturally breathtaking setting to our guest. We hope you will give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future.

Sincerely,
Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort Management
