“Family visit”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We stayed at The Black Swan for a large family gathering. There are 4 rooms of which we booked three. Mulberry, Raspberry, and Gooseberry. All were well furnished, very clean and well presented. Hosts Alec, Wenna, and staff gave us exceptional service. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a lunchtime buffet in the restaurant for 60 followed by evening meal for 10 family members. All choosing different meals. It all arrived together , with well presented ample portions.
It is so nice to see this lovely place buzzing again.

My partner and I arrived for Sunday lunch, having not eaten here for a while. There was a great atmosphere, the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive and the food was good and well priced. We always appreciate dog friendly pubs and left feeling full and happy. Many thanks.

Visited the Black Swan for first time since it changed its name from the Gweek Inn and it's very good. Staff were welcoming and friendly and also accommodating as we asked for a few changes to the menus. Food was tasty and well presented the roast cod was excellent. Good choice of beers and these went down well after a long days sailing. Good value for money dinner we will be back

i had been to this pub before many many years ago when it was called the Gweek inn.
It was so long ago that i cant remember that it was like inside but remember the Cornish pasty i had was really good. The evening we went the pub was quite busy with plenty of locals all eating dinner and drinking in the bar and a couple playing pool in the adjoining room. The barmaids gave us a friendly welcome, the pub has a good selection of local ales and ciders and the selection of food was also good with a nice specials board. The pub had a good atmosphere and if it were summer you could have eaten outside on the benches at the front .
i would recommend a drink or meal at the black swan,or even stay the night as this is also a B&B.(but we didn't stay here) i would think its a very popular stop for people visiting the seal sanctuary just along the road so i would suggest getting here early if you want a good parking space.

We decided to come here for Sunday lunch having popped in before for a coffee. We were not disappointed, tender roast pork, very good crackling and a good assortment of vegetables (leeks in white sauce, creamed carrot, parsnips, roast potatoes and cabbage) The only minor criticism was that the carrot could have been hotter. We had sticky toffee pudding to follow, which wasn't bad though just a tad stodgy. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant and bar area are upbeat and welcoming. There were plenty of families eating here and the place has a relaxed atmosphere. If you want to settle down afterwards for a coffee you need to do this at the bar or at your table as there are not any sofas here for loafing. There is a pool table though
