Owner description: It's always a good day for a soak in the clear warm waters of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool! The hot springs of Ouray have been enjoyed since at least the 14th century when native Ute Indians used the naturally hot clear water for healing. Settlers came to the area in the late 1800's in search of gold and precious minerals, and many found comfort in the natural hot springs. The current swimming pool was constructed in the 1920's and has been a favorite destination ever since. Seven different springs supply the pool with water. At the source some of this water is 150 degrees! The pool consists of several sections maintained at different temperatures for different tastes. The hot section is approximately 104 degrees, and a soaking section, perfect for families and prolonged soaking, is typically 95 degrees, or so. The lap lanes and deep section are usually about 80 degrees in the summer and fall, and cooler than that in the winter months when there is snow on the ground. The Ouray Hot Springs Swimming Pool is an outdoor pool open all year. Many people enjoy the pool the most in the winter, after a day spent ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on the local ice rink (skates are available to rent at the Hot Springs Pool), or simply as a place to relax and enjoy the splendid scenery of the San Juan Mountains.

My husband was hesitant to go here because of the public swimming pool look to the place. We prefer naturalistic settings. BUT it is surrounded by beautiful mountain views so he agreed. We both loved it. We melted into the hot end of the pool, where there are mostly adults, and didn't want to leave. Our muscles were sore from traveling and hiking and the springs took care of all that. Recommend.

After a long day's hike it feels great to relax in the hot springs. The pool is surrounded by beautiful mountain views and the springs are open in the summer and winter. There are a lot of activities for the kids, including a new inflatable obstacle course, water slides, and water volleyball. The only drawback is that there are only 2 different temperature zones and it is not as naturalistic as other hot springs that we have been to. Overall it is a great place to visit as a couple, single, or family.

Its really a rare find Ouray Hot Springs Pool is a spectacular scene. NO DIVING BOARD and everything is managed to minimize risk and liability to the pool and lifeguards. I have never had a massage there but I imagine its not worth it. I use the pool to swim laps and I am there regularly. And I can say when you enter the Men's side Locker room creeps of all ages 'hang' out in the restrooms. This isn't a normal pool but it is fantastic.

After running passes or camping in the mountains, the hot springs is a great place to go to relax. The pool is divided into several sections with different temperature water in each section. The hot section is 105 degrees, then 100 degrees and then around 90 degrees. It has a slide and volleyball in the cooler section. It also a has a lap pool. I enjoyed just relaxing in the hot water with the spectacular mountain views!

We visited a very warm sunny day in May. The pool is nice and clean as are the locker rooms. Lockers are available to rent.
They have several different temperatures pools. The shallow pool is very warm and has a cool water fall mushroom. There is a deeper pool with a waterslide for older kids. We felt the water was cooler but didn't swim there as my son is young. The hottest pool is a little bit deeper then the shallow pool but not very deep. It is very warm and we could only do a few minutes at a time.

It was a very enjoyable afternoon spent.
