Owner description: It's always a good day for a soak in the clear warm waters of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool! The hot springs of Ouray have been enjoyed since at least the 14th century when native Ute Indians used the naturally hot clear water for healing. Settlers came to the area in the late 1800's in search of gold and precious minerals, and many found comfort in the natural hot springs. The current swimming pool was constructed in the 1920's and has been a favorite destination ever since. Seven different springs supply the pool with water. At the source some of this water is 150 degrees! The pool consists of several sections maintained at different temperatures for different tastes. The hot section is approximately 104 degrees, and a soaking section, perfect for families and prolonged soaking, is typically 95 degrees, or so. The lap lanes and deep section are usually about 80 degrees in the summer and fall, and cooler than that in the winter months when there is snow on the ground. The Ouray Hot Springs Swimming Pool is an outdoor pool open all year. Many people enjoy the pool the most in the winter, after a day spent ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on the local ice rink (skates are available to rent at the Hot Springs Pool), or simply as a place to relax and enjoy the splendid scenery of the San Juan Mountains.

“a must do in Ouray”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We are not big into community pools but this one was exceptional. The clean water with no odor of the normal hot springs was a pleasant surprise. Good showers and $.50 lockers to store valuables. We also arranged for a massage at the spa located right at poolside. One of the best massages I have ever had and at a reasonable price. Loved it in the summer but imagine that it would be spectacular on a cold winter night!!!

“Great for Kids, Beautiful Views”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

A tad pricey but you can stay all day, military members get in free as do kids 3 and under. But *only* the military person, not the entire family. Anything helps for large families though and we stayed over three hours. The setting is pretty, you're surrounded by mountains. It's big enough to explore but not as big as Glenwood's. The kids have 3 water slides from which to choose, including a small one which was the most popular with little kids (8 & under). My kids slid down that thing the entire 3 hours. You can bring your own floaties and pool toys and they have huge, fun floating toys to rent. There are hotter pools where you find all adults soaking hot-tub style and larger, less warm pools to play in and even do laps in. All in all a fun environment for families with children of all ages. Our only major beef was the locker in the changing rooms. They're poorly designed and EVERYONE loses their 50 cents when trying to figure out how to open/get the key out (you have to time it right... really stupid design). Then it's a one-time operation. Every time you open your locker you have to pay 50 cents. Total rip off. You should only have to pay once and be able to access your locker as much as you want. So figure out the lockers the first time and bring with you everything you need to the pool area.

“A giant hot tub”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

Was pretty cool, but a tad bit pricy...but Ouray is a tourist town so they have to get the money when they can, and I'm cool with that.

Anyway, there were three sections. The "hot tub" area, the not quite so hot tub and then the "cold" section. the cold area is where most of the activities are set up for the kids/teenagers. I think it would be a really unique place to go during the winter.

“Kind of expensive...”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

For first time going it was ok. Pretty view. Great for kids, pool level is good, couple different pools for small kids. Definitely a warm pool and cold pool (2 separate pools). Wish the price wasn't so expensive especially since we were there near closing time on the holiday.
