My husband and I spent the weekend here and we were thrilled. Beautifully restored hotel dating back to the 1800's. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

We stayed one night in June. The hotel looks great and beautiful! After reading the positive reviews we were curious. Everything looks great and the staff acts very friendly. But in my opinion it did not feel welcoming and really warm. There are a lot of restrictions because of the historic place. For example wipe your feet, don't use the stairs with your suitcase, do not lie on the bed with the drapes on it, don't open the window, and so on. I really understand this. It is a beautiful hotel and you must take care of it and use it very carefully. This is not my critic, but the manner how they tell you all this is not pleasant! You feel like a schoolboy; don't do this and don't do that. Of course I will be careful in a hotel or any other place. Second point of critic is the breakfast. They warn you not to expect anything of it, but this was nothing; the coffee was cold, there was not enough and nobody of the staff was really in charge or felt responsible. If you don't want to spend any attention to it, why should you present the breakfast at all?! The checking out was a bit the same. No eye contact and no real interest in me as a paying client. So in short the hotel is beautiful, but the manners and making you feel welcome can improve a lot!!

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so sorry that your stay was not exceptionally excellent. Thanks for understanding that we must ask everyone to be careful with our precious old hotel. We were really disappointed to hear that the message was not delivered as pleasantly as it should have been. Our staff is usually exceedingly welcoming, as you can tell from the other reviews, so we were quite surprised to hear otherwise. We had some trouble with our morning staff for a few weeks over the summer and the Continental Breakfast suffered, as did the level of customer service at checkout. We sincerely apologize for that and Jamie, the staff member who was the problem, is no longer with us. We have also, as a result of your review, retrained our front desk check-in staff and every guest will be made to feel at home in the future. Please let us know immediately if something is not perfect and we will do our best to fix it right then. Please also give us another opportunity to prove to you that we value your opinion and that you are welcome in our home.

I have stayed here before and it is still a great place. Last time we were there we had the tower suite which was very nice, this time however we got just a regular room. They are still nice but not exactly worth the price. The beds are very short. Im over six feet tall and I had to sleep at an angle to fit. Also there are windows in the bathroom that open out into the hall. I know that the place is very old and it is a historic hotel but it just seems like they could update it a litle. Also one thing that we really didnt like was the breakfast. I know you shouldnt expect much from a free breakfast, but getting spoiled orange juice is just unacceptable.

Thank you so much for the feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time. We sincerely apologize that your stay wasn’t perfect but we’re glad that you got to experience the fact that each room is completely different and each one is nice. Comparable hotels in other cities are three times the price so we feel that our rates are quite a value. Yes, our rates may be higher than other hotels in Ouray but ours is the only luxury hotel. Each room has a standard queen size bed so if you don’t fit in that size bed, you will not be comfortable in ours. We do also have a couple rooms with windows in the bathroom but they do not open and you cannot see or hear in or out of them. Please let us know if you just don’t like to have a window in the bathroom and we’ll change your reservation to a different room. Those original windows were not removed during multi-million dollar restoration in an effort to keep the authenticity of the atrium area. The restoration won the first-ever Preserve America Award, which was presented by the President himself. Thanks for letting us know about the OJ and you are absolutely right – sour orange juice is completely unacceptable and we hope that you know that if we were aware that it wasn’t good, we wouldn’t dream of serving it to our guests. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know if anything is amiss during your stay and we will correct it immediately. Our Continental Breakfast is a simple, healthy breakfast just like you would get anywhere else in America that serves a Continental (and ours usually includes really good OJ). Our restaurant serves an excellent lunch and dinner, though. We hope that you give another try and give us the opportunity to make your stay PERFECT.

We stayed here three nights, and quite enjoyed it. The restoration of the hotel is very well done, and you feel like you are stepping back in history in the rooms. The several staff members we dealt with were all very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean.

Two additional comments: I am not rating it 5 stars because I intentionally paid for a "suite" and got -- a single room. We stayed in the King Leopold "Suite" and it is a single room smaller than most hotel rooms. I really don't know how they justify calling it a suite.

Also, stay here if you love the historic aspect of it, but know you are not staying at a hotel with all the latest amenities you would find in a modern luxury hotel. There is no coffee service in the room, no ironing board, you have to call the front desk for ice, etc.

However, aside from that, it is very nice, and very historic. I'm glad we stayed here.

Room Tip: 3rd floor, south side has some great views.

Thank you so much for your feedback and for staying in our grand old hotel. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you appreciated our staff and attention to detail. All of the guestrooms are different sizes and shapes and are decorated completely differently. The King Leopold Suite, named after the King of Belgium who stayed at our hotel, is one of the smaller Luxury Suites. Please let us know next time you stay with us and we will make sure that you get a much larger room. Another thing that is unique about our hotel is that we try to keep the rooms as clutter-free and vacation-friendly as possible. In keeping with that philosophy, we do not have alarm clocks or irons in the rooms but they are available upon request. Honestly, we only get requests for those things about every 6 months. We also have full-service staff that will bring just about anything else you request, including ice. Since your review, we have added coffee service to each room – thanks for the advice! We hope to see you again soon.

Upon arriving at the Beaumont, the desk attendant was absolutely focused on doing anything and everything he could do to make this a great experience. Rooms were perfect, clean and comfortable and absolutely beautiful. I purchased the "romantic package' which came with a massage which was not to the same level as the rest of the hotel. The dinner part of the package was fine, great atmosphere outside on the patio and food was good.

My husband and I were married at the Beaumont on May 19, 2012. The atmosphere of the Beaumont was exactly what we were looking for, as our theme for our wedding was Victorian. Every detail was absolutely perfect! Chad and Jennifer Leaver (Owners of Hotel) could not have been more perfect. The food, accommodations and scenery were all wonderful. We would highly recommend the Beaumont Hotel for any occasion and will be returning for our future anniversaries. I am so grateful that my wedding day was in such an amazing place with amazing family and friends. I truly felt like a Fairytale Princess!

As you open the front door and walk down the corridor to the light-filled lobby, you feel you have stepped back to the era of gold and silver mining barons. On the National Register of Historic Places, the Beaumont opened in 1887. Walking up the 125-year-old oak staircase to your room you can envision the many people who have walked up these stairs before. The hotel was closed for many years, but renovations were begun in 1999, and now the hotel offers an elegant retreat. We stayed in the Hoover Room, an absolute delight--southern views, stained glass window in the bathroom, charming lamps--every detail was perfect. A continental breakfast was served in Bulow's Bistro, a cozy space which was the hotel's original bar...with the 125 year-old wood floor and brick walls. I'd suggest having the truffles awaiting for your arrival---decadent treat!

Room Tip: The rooms to the south have lovely views.
