“Wonderful Weekend at the Beaumont”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2012

My husband and I were in Ouray for a wedding and stayed at the Beaumont Hotel. The Beaumont is a lovely hotel. I was pleased with the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. It is grand, yet feels quaint and friendly at the same time. I gave four out of five stars only because the breakfast wasn't anything special.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of Main St.

The price is right for the scenery and the hotel. While it's true they could improve on the breakfast - it's fair and we appreciated it. We stayed in the Dragonfly suite, which has original period furniture from the 1800's and is wonderfully decorated. No counter space in the bathroom, but we managed. Ask the staff for anything and they will accommodate. This was one of 4 luxury hotels we stayed in during our 2 weeks in Colorado and well worth it. Our stay in Durango afterwards truly proved that our stay at the Beaumont was better! The bookstore is awesome - very eclectic for its size. Great food and drink @ O'Briens in town. Overall the Beaumont had a comfy, large bed, large flat screen TV and the friendly staff made it a plus. You won't go wrong here.

Room Tip: Dragonfly suite has great view. And Oprah stayed there.

We spent 5 nights at The Beaumont last week. Since we first saw the hotel, back when it was boarded up and pink, we have wanted to stay there. There is nothing bad about the hotel, but there were random things that just kept the stay from being worth the price we paid. Some mornings room service made the bed, others they just pulled the spread up, white pillows left on top of the spread. One day, they didn't leave coffee for the coffee maker in the room. Another morning there was not coffee in the third floor lobby. The bathrooms do not seem to be well equipped (we were in one of the two most expensive suites), there is no real counter space, there were no extra towels, you had two rather small towels each day which seemed inadequate and hardly what I would expect in what is billed as a luxury hotel. In retrospect we should have spent one night there, just to see the hotel, and then moved on. I guess I was expecting more from this hotel.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We were mortified when we read this review and quite disappointed that we didn’t meet your expectations. Please accept our sincere apology. We do not inspect the rooms of stayovers so we do not know if something is amiss unless the guest tells us - so thanks for letting us know. Usually, our Housekeeping staff is very consistent and thorough. This was a good training opportunity for us to show our Housekeeping staff the importance of making sure that everything is perfect and consistent for our guests. We have never had anything but compliments on our towels but that may be something that we need to address as well - you should never have less than 4 towels in your room – so that is another housekeeping concern that we addressed. Since your review, we have added coffee makers to every room so guests do not have to leave their room for fresh coffee. We also didn’t realize the lack of counter space in that huge bathroom but it has come up twice now so we are definitely going to concentrate on the issue. Thank you for helping us improve our lovely old hotel.

This hotel tops my lifelong list of hotels visited, worldwide. If you are lucky enough to travel to this beautiful part of the country, you owe it to yourself to stay at least one night at the Beaumont. My husband and I stayed here on our Western Slope anniversary road trip from Denver. As beautiful as this place is, the staff are what make this hotel. We received such great service and were pleasantly surprised with the complimentary breakfast in the great bar/restaurant, as well as coffee set up on the third floor to sip while we got ready for breakfast. :)

Be sure to take the free tour for guests at 2:30 to hear all about the history of this place- it is deep. Leave it up to a Texas A&M inventor (Go Aggies!) to put $24 million in restoring a piece of CO history. My husband and I stayed in the Bluebird room, 301- the only room in the building with original flooring. I was IN LOVE.

What a great place! It is beyond spotless and a great location in town. Make sure you visit the Billy Goat Gruff Biergarden across the street and hike Chief Ouray Mine hike (it is strenuous, however, you can take the less altituderific Lower Cascade Falls which starts on the same trailhead). Thank you Beaumont for a great stay. I can't wait until we come back!

We enoyed the old-fashioned opulence (with modern conveniences!) of the Beaumont Hotel. our room was comfortable, spotless, and beautifully decorated. We love spending time in Ouray, and our stay at the Beaumont was another lovely experience to add to our long list of reasons we love Ouray.

This was our first stay at the Beaumont and I hope not our last. We stayed in room 304 and everything about the room and the stay was delightful. The staff is all so friendly and welcoming. We also enjoyed dinner and lunch the next day at the Ore Restuarant which is part of this historic property. We have done a lot of traveling and by far this is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The value is terrific too and we thought very reasonably priced. I wish we did not live so far away! F. Berry Dallas TX.

Room Tip: Room 304 has a large bathroom with both tub and shower. On the top floor so it was very quiet.

This was our third stay in the historic Beaumont Hotel in Ouray and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel was acquired by new owners a year or two ago and they have continued the tradition of excellence that has been the standard at the Beaumont since it was restored 12-13 years ago. Ouray is a favorite destination and we don't consider any other accommodations. We do miss the full breakfast on the veranda, but we understand the difficulties in operating a full breakfast restaurant in a very seasonal location. The continental breakfast is good; we ate at the hotel three mornings and one morning took a short walk to one of the excellent local bistros. The hotel restaurant is excellent--Ouray has a few top-notch restaurants, but our meal at the Ore House at the hotel was the best we had on this trip. Service is friendly and efficient, beds are excellent and the hotel is kept spotless. It is very well maintained. It is very quiet; as a couple in our mid-60s we appreciated the policy of not allowing children in the hotel--it would not be a kid-friendly environment in any event. If we have an opportunity to bring our grandchildren to Ouray one of these days, we will just have to find another place to stay, Overall, this is one of my favorite hotels anywhere and we highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Our favorite is the Dragonfly suite on the third floor. There are also two large suites that are ex...
