“Tour of Beaumont hotel”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

The tour was fun and funny. Tour guide had some great stories to share. And the rooms and antiques in them--impressive! Real lays. Nice way to spend a day in our any, hike in box canyon, lunch at the brewery and then a tour with some interesting history, followed by hot springs....

Room Tip: Didn't spend night but took tour. Love room with Tiffany lamps.

We spent one night in this historic hotel, located in the heart of Colarado's Switzerland of America. We enjoyed both the modern amenities and timeless old world atmosphere. Dinner at Beaumont Grill was excellent. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

We have been going to Ouray for about 20 years now, and this was the first opportunity for us to actually stay on the Beaumont. If you read any of my other reviews, you'll see that we stay in as many of these historic hotels as we can find across the country. Without question, Beaumont is one of the finest. The last time we were in Ouray was 2003, and the Beaumont had just completed a complete five-year restoration. The lobby area was finished and opened up for visitors to look in on, and I believe the rooms had just opened up. We were already staying elsewhere and did not know the Beaumont was ready for guests. During this trip, we made sure we had at least one night at the hotel. Unfortunately for us, a wedding party booked the entire hotel for one of the nights we wanted. So, we had one great night in the Beaumont. We booked the Bluebird Room, #301. Everything in the room was top notch from the original hardwood floors to the marble bathroom vanity. This was a south-facing room, which provided some very good views of the San Juan Mountains. The room was very large, and the price was right. Rooms in the Beaumont aren't priced much higher than anything else in town. If you want the best, by all means book a room here. The bed was absolutely as comfortable as anything on our entire trip, and the bathroom was fantastic. All updated fixtures, very good water pressure, and excellent quality bath accessories. A nice continental breakfast also comes with the room, and it is served in the beautiful Beaumont Grill room. We did not have dinner here, but there are so many good options in Ouray you cannot go wrong. I'll be adding one or two other reviews from bars and restaurants later. The small staff at Beaumont treats every guest like they are the most important customer. When we checked out, we were treated to a quick tour of the Grand Ballroom. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, you should really take a tour to see this room. We did not have the opportunity to visit the spa, so I cannot comment on that. We would highly recommend the Beaumont, and the town of Ouray itself. Ten years ago, Ouray was still somewhat of a "best kept secret." During this trip, we got the impression the secret was out.

Room Tip: Bluebird room, #301 is a great deal for the price

This is an elegantly restored historic hotel in lovely, walkable downtown Ouray. Stately 3-story lobby topped with glass skylight. A comfortable and tastefully appointed room (the 'King Leopold') and a relaxing 30 minutes in the whirlpool with views of the close-by vertical valley walls and Cascade Falls. Includes reserved parking and continental breakfast.
I would second the other reviewers' descriptions of Ouray and The Beaumont.

Room Tip: Rooms on the main street side could be noisy in high traffic season. Check out the website for view...

I'm a historic hotel buff. Particularly historic hotels in small historic and scenic towns. Well it really doesn't get much more scenic than the tiny historic town of Ouray. And the Beaumont hotel was the icing on the cake with the perfect location on Main St. Our room was super clean and nice. We stayed in a suite on the third floor and it was quite spacious. The nice man at working the front desk was kind enough to tell my roommate and I about the history of the hotel which we found very fascinating. I can't remember his name but he was from Texas (as are we) and was one of the nicest hotel employees i've ever encountered, he made us feel very at home so a special thank you to him. You know how you have certain special memories through out your life that can always make you feel good when you ponder them and last a life time? Ouray and The Beaumont hotel have been added to that list for me.

We love Ouray! The Beaumont is restored in fine detail with rich fabrics and lace to ceiling crown molding. It is beautiful and well cared for. Morgan and Bryan can't do enough to make you feel welcomed. They are exemplary in attitute and service. We did have some issue with the bed being too hard for us and the breakfast fare was lacking imagination. Their restaurant has an exceptional chef. We enjoyed our meal there. Thanks Tracy and Bruce for the best service we ever had!

Room Tip: Mountain view is fantastic.

This hotel is one of the finest restorations we've discovered within the mining town regions of the Colorado Rockies. It has European charm and is beautifully furnished. Ouray is fairly remote, yet the hotel has many excellent amenities. Everything in our lovely room worked very well, including the bath, shower, air conditioning, etc. Views from the hotel are spectacular and the hotel was very quiet and peaceful despite being located on the main street in downtown Ouray. We loved the hotel staff and owners who were extremely helpful, courteous and very informative about the area. Another special aspect of our experience was the hotel restaurant. It is small, friendly and cozy with a wonderful chef. We bagged one other reservation we had in town to return to the Beaumont Grill for another extraordinary meal. We (and our friends) would return to this fine place in a heartbeat!
