We stayed at the Wiesbaden due to a friend's recommendation. It is a historic property with a lot of character. Everything was clean and quaintly decorated. My daughter loved the antique toys in the hall. The staff was friendly and helpful. The best part was the vapor cave, very unique and worth checking out. We liked that it was not on the Main Street of town so was quieter. Also this gave us reason to walk around. We didn't use the pool at the Wiesbaden since our daughter wanted to go to a place with a slide. However the pool seems nice but not very large if traveling with children. seems better for adult soaking than kids playing. Overall I would recommend the Wiesbaden for a unique get away.

Imagine sitting in natural hot springs under a star-filled sky, solitary and quiet, as Roscoe the Fox slips silently by the edge of the hot spring pool, or deer nibble grass just outside the fence. This is one of the many wonderful benefits of staying at Wiesbaden. When you stay overnight you are allowed to use the outdoor hot springs until 11pm, long after any day visitors have left. Wiesbaden is a refreshing, calming, and rejuvenating place to stay. We love to visit after a hard hike--we swear that a long Wiesbaden soak after even the toughest hike keeps us from becoming sore, and eliminates our fatigue. (Wiesbaden's location is close to amazing hikes in and around Ouray and Silverton -- hikes like Ice Lake, Columbine Lake, and Blue Lakes -- so it is a perfect place to stay if planning to hike this area.)
Wiesbaden's common areas and rooms are quaint and comfortable. They have the feeling of staying in someone's treasured home, because this is the treasured home of Linda, the owner. If you visit in winter, sit around the fire in the lobby and chat with Linda, who has fascinating stories to tell. If it's warm, relax in the green, lush courtyard before or after soaking or having a massage. (I have had excellent, deep tissue massages from two different massage therapists at Wiesbaden.) We love Wiesbaden, and visit often.

Wiesbaden Lodge in Ouray, Colorado has a way to hook you in. It might be the long Southern Style wraparound porches framed by lush green grass that does it, or it could be the snow capped peaks that hug the lodge from every direction. On a cool morning, there is no better way to start the day than a dip in the 104 degree thermal waters of the pool in front of the property. Exit the pool and walk downstairs to Wiesbaden’s Vapor Cave, and you will emerge with a feeling of rejuvenation that comes from the very best of vacations.

Wiesbaden is historic, but it somehow manages to pull off old world elegance without feeling dated. The Victorian furnishings might feel out of place elsewhere, but the owner has found a way to strike just the right balance here. The history of Wiesbaden Lodge is reflected in its décor, but modern touches throughout (check out the gallery wall and the pencil drawn fox in the main building) keep things fresh.

The property boasts dozens of repeat visitors year after year, and it is easy to see why. It is not unusual to run into guests in nothing but their bathrobes, as they emerge steaming from one of the hot spring fed pools or caves on the property. Fresh coffee, hot chocolate, and hot tea are always available, a touch that makes returning to the lodge feel like coming home.

We stayed at the Wiesbaden motel for 3 nights while exploring Ouray and the surrounding mountains. It is a very friendly place to stay, with staff going out of their way to make sure we had all the information we needed about the area. The Sun Room, where we stayed, was a unique, comfortable retreat at night. The bed was great, as were all the room facilities. They provide a guide to all the restaurants in town, including menus, which was very helpful in choosing places to dine. The shining star of this motel is their vapor cave and pool in the basement and the mineral water pool outside. It was so relaxing to start or finish our day with a soak in the hot waters of the two pools. It really helped with moderating our reaction to the low humidity of the mountains and with relaxing our muscles after long days hiking in the mountains. The lobby of the motel, the vision of the owner, is a wonderful, airy spot to hang out, filled with tall plants that love the spot and grow profusely. Spa services such as massage are also available, although we did not use any of them. A thoroughly wonderful place to stay, I highly recommend it. We will be sure to put it on our agenda the next time we are in Ouray.

This is the best kept secret in Ouray! Not only is it located at the source of the town's hot springs, it has an underground vapor cave as well as a private outdoor pool for romantic or group soaks. Massages and spa treatments are also available.
My husband and I have traveled extensively, and this is truly a very special, historic, and romantic place.

We did not stay at Wiesbaden Lodge, but we went to the hot springs. For $15, you get three hours to use the Hot Springs outdoor pool and the underground "Vapor Cave." When we visited, it was raining/snowing and the outdoor hot springs overlooking the mountains was beautiful, and it was the perfect temperature. It was wonderful and the three hours went by quickly. The Vapor Cave has a small pool of water, but it is VERY hot, and you can only stand it for about five minutes. It is a great way to open your lungs and cleanse. Although, be warned, if you've smoked cigarettes within the last three months, you will not be allowed to enter.

This is a relatively small and intimate hot springs, so if you have kids, I would recommend going to the outdoor Ouray Hot Springs pool. It's bigger and has various temperatures so the kids don't get too hot.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend Wiesbaden Hot Springs for couples or a small group of adults.

Room Tip: We did not rent a room.

Although the service was not comparable with the price and the Wifi is shotty at best, this place was great because of the vapor cave and the private tub. Ouray is a beautiful place and the view from the outdoor tub was breathtaking. The décor was weird, the room we had was decorated with a bunch of creepy cat pictures which made me wonder if I would end up in a real life horror flick or was already in the twilight zone.
