This was our third stay at the lodge, but it was our first visit during autumn. We are repeat customers because the owners are always available on location or by phone and because of the proximity to the river. During the summer the grounds are absolutely beautiful with flowers in pots and baskets everywhere and landscaping by the river. The owners make improvements during the off-season so, even though the property has existed for some time, it is constantly being upgraded. I really appreciated the updated Wi-Fi this visit that provided constant service even though our room was at the riverside some distance from the office. Breakfast was provided each morning, but there was a refrigerator and microwave in he room had we wished to make use of them.

We made this trip to see the aspens in fall so we were completely surprised by 4 inches of snow the morning after we arrived. The ice and snow melted by noon that day, but we thoroughly enjoyed the transitory beauty it provided and the many photos we took of snowy peaks and snow-decked pines. There were fewer tourists in town in early October and many store owners were closed or closing for the season, but the beauty that surrounds this small town is enough to make the trip worthwhile.

Above all, the primary reason we will return is because of the owner-operators, Dave and Chad, who made us and other guests feel welcome and well-cared for. They always took the time to answer our questions about the area. IT is a 2 1/2 day trip to get to Ouray from our home so it is very important to us that, when we arrive there, we are expected and there are no problems. Colorado has many sites for tourists but we return primarily because of the environment provided by our hosts at River's Edge.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of a river view, but all rooms have views of the mountains that surround the town.

We had ten wonderful days at River's Edge. Chad and Dave are exceptionally kind, efficient, energetic, generous, and personable. The grounds are gorgeous! The breakfast was awesome! Our Large Kitchenette was perfect for us! We were able to relax in and around the River's Edge property, and with a short walk to Main Street, it is the ideal location. We shall return to the River's Edge again and again. There is no other place in Ouray we would stay! Great job, Chad and Dave! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

This is an older property that has been given a second chance by 2 great inn keepers. You can tell they really love this place and keep improving it. Great location right by the river, ample breakfast. Our room was the one closest to the river so we kept our windows open to hear it all night. The owners made sure to meet each person who stayed with them. Not something you find everyday.

I was responsible for finding a location in Ouray for a week-long photography workshop during the height of Colorado's beautiful fall colors. I contacted Chad many months in advance and found him extremely helpful and accommodating. There were a number of questions along the way, and Chad and Dave made the planning effortless. The motel is centrally located in Ouray and the rooms were clean and as described. When issues arose, Chad and Dave did everything in their power to help and went out of their way to assist our participants. In certain parts of the motel the internet was not as strong as it might have been, but there was access. The motel grounds are beautifully landscaped, and as might be gathered from the name, right along the river. The rates were reasonable. The extraordinary efforts of both Dave and Chad would have me enthusiastically recommend River's Edge to others visiting Ouray.

Based on all the positive reviews here, we set our expectations too high and were rather disappointed with our stay. We got to the motel around 5 pm on Saturday and the hosts were already gone with no one at the front desk but our keys and instructions in the envelope. We were leaving the next day early in the morning at 7 am so we never got to meet the hosts or have breakfast, which is served pretty late. The room itself was relatively spacious with a living room and a bedroom. The living room/kitchen area had a microwave and a fridge, though pretty old looking and we never figured out how to make the fridge work. There is free parking on the property, hot tub in the courtyard and free internet, which was extremely poor and slow with me barely getting one bar signal. On the plus side, the hotel is centrally located in downtown Ouray, within the walking distance to shops and restaurants - though considering how small Ouray is most hotels are- and close to hot springs swimming pool. It was ok stay for one night, but it felt really impersonal and I wish the internet was more reliable. Next time we are in Ouray, we'll try another place.

Our reasonable room rates are based on the use of limited staff. This particular evening we were involved and volunteered at a charity event at the elks lodge here in ouray. The envelope that was left on the front desk included a phone number for assistance if needed. The room was western in styling. It was one of the rooms we receive rave reviews on. Is it contemporary, sleek, or uptown looking? No. It is here in the Western Rockies, and captures that charm. We have the most up to date WIFI available. Once in a while our location here in the mountains does interrupt good service. We are sorry that we did not get to meet these guests. Remember a phone call could have solved all of their problems. Thank you Dave and Chad
