“Hot Springs Heaven!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

My sister, myself and our 89 year old mother traveled to Ouray in July of 2014 to attend our
moms first cousins 100th birthday. The Hot Springs Inn was definitely a wonderful surprise. I used to be a travel agent and I would not have hesitated to book clients into this delightful property. Our room was decorated in a western/cowboy theme. The room had a fireplace and we had a small deck overlooking the river. We were either extremely tired or this place was built right! I suspect the latter. Not once in our five night ( completely booked - no vacancy) stay did we hear footsteps above our first floor room or a neighbors television or a toilet flush. The shower I our room was excellent -- plenty of hot water and an adjustable shower head to accommodate any height. The beds in our room were so comfortable and so were the feather pillows. We were told the owner/manager had changed them out many times until he got exactly what he wanted. A very nice continental breakfast was served each morning with a great assortment of items to choose from. The property was located right next to the hot springs and in addition to the "hot spring pool" ,there was a play area for children which was being well used during our stay. The town is absolutely beautiful set in a valley surrounded by huge mountains. The road from Durango to Ouray was a little treacherous and it is listed as one of the 8 most dangerous roads in the world! Lucky for us, we drove in at night during a heavy rain and thunder and lightning so we didn't notice the 5,000 foot drop offs or the lacking guard rails. I would highly recommend this wonderful place to stay as well as the community it is in. Lots of boutiques, antique stores, restaurants, etc. in the winter, it is extremely popular for people who enjoy ice climbing. Our overall experience was wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property along with the beautiful area of the country it sits into anyone -- mountains, meadows and a feeling of peace and serenity.

Stayed here with a friend and our two daughters and had a great experience. The room was very clean and the beds were big and comfortable. We very much enjoyed our time sitting on the balcony, watching the river and taking in the beautiful Colorado mountains. (It was also very restful to hear the creek in the background while we slept that night.)

The breakfast was basic but good and the staff very friendly. They provided great advice on the must-see sights in Ouray.

Staying here was an outstanding and memorable experience. I would definitely book a room at the Hot Springs Inn again if I traveled back to Ouray.

This hotel was nice for our two night stay in Ouray. Room was clean with balcony overlooking the creek. Breakfast was basic but fit our needs. The one thing I might add is that the hotel is not that close to the main street in town. It is within walking distance but we chose to drive because there wasn't a good walking path along the main street.

I probably cannot add much to all of the rave reviews of this property. It deserves each one. The room was spotless and nicely decorated with personal touches from the owner. Our room was overlooking the creek out back, as did most of the rooms from what I could tell. We left our window cracked to hear the water as we went to bed - wonderful! The room is extra large and has all the amenities. We didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: Upper floor is probably better view.

This was a beautiful hotel with 2 king sized beds that are extremely comfortable, nice shower, balcony overlooking a river and close enough to town to walk to. When we first arrived the staff was very friendly and helpful even offering good places to eat in town. The view around the hotel is amazing and there is even 3 hot tubs that you can use to soak in. Breakfast was small and simple consisting of cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs, packaged donuts/muffins, bagels and toast. It was enough to start the day before heading to the mountain trails. The hotel is just down the road from the Hot Springs too. Wifi is offered but very very slow. Our only problem we had was that we needed to change our plans due my husbands work and wanted to leave a day early. In most chain hotels you can cancel up till 3:00 the day before but I failed to read the entire fine print when making my reservations. The hotel has a 72 hour cancellation notice and since we only stayed at the hotel 3 nights it would have been impossible to change our plans even in an emergency. So if an emergency comes up and you need to change your plans be prepared to not get your money back if you leave early unless it is 72 hours prior. To us that seems a bit extreme.... Really liked the hotel but may have to rethink staying here again.

Room Tip: A room upstairs offers the best view of the river.

This is the sixth year we have stayed here. We spent five days in heaven. most places become used and show their age over time. Not so with Hot Springs Inn. The attention to detail and maintenance is amazing and impressive. The rooms here are so spacious and so comfortable.

As in the past, the staff remain super. Their attention to one's personal comfort is amazing. Linda, Jan and Mary really take pride in their surface.

When our group left, all the staff was on the porch outside to say goodbye. It was like saying goodbye to family. The good news we will be back next year!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms!

We stayed at Hot Springs Inn based on reviews we read. We were not disappointed! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. And, the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. We loved having the view of the River from our balcony. We will definitely stay here the next time we're in town.
