“Kudos to Chef Carrole”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Nice accommodations.... the pool and the hot springs were very relaxing. The highlight of this place would be the daily breakfast with Chef Carrole serving up made to order omelets. They were simply amazing. Thanks again Chef!

Very clean, super friendly staff. Nice rooms, a bit tight but updated and clean. No microwaves in rooms though which would've been nice. Very convenient having a restaurant and outside bar at this hotel. 3 hot springs pools which are open 24/7

Room Tip: stayed in a double queen room as that's all was available

Stayed here again, for the 6th time, over 30 years. The room we had was clean, and they are pet friendly (we travel with our dog, who is quiet and well-behaved). My only suggestion is to put guests with pets in rooms that don't have white bedding. I know that's the new hotel trend, but not logical in pet rooms.

The handout that we were given about pets in rooms was a bit "unfriendly" and threatening: if dog hair is found on bedding, you'll pay an extra $20 on top of the extra fee you pay for the pet room itself. That felt excessive. As well, the statement on the handout that we were staying in one of the last pet friendly hotels was also untrue: more and more hotels are catering to guests who travel with their pets, not less hotels.

The breakfast room needs to be bigger, or perhaps less 4 person tables and more 2 person tables; it was so crowded in there at 8:30 a.m. that people were going outside, okay when it's dry and warm, but not so during a rainy morning or a wet night the night before.

The maid was knocking on our door at 8:15 a.m. the morning we were checking out, which felt a bit premature, even by maid standards.

Otherwise, enjoyed the place as always.

Hi Noazchica!
Thank you for leaving a long and detailed review. We are glad to hear we can offer consistency over such a time frame. I do apologize for some of the inconvenience caused by the wording in our pet agreement. We have found that any less than what is listed is not enough to help keep enacted the policies we try to explain to guests. We have made it a point not to put too many signs around the property that reflect negative wording. There are some, but not nearly as many as we would like to put up. Unfortunately, some guests of our lodge can be disrespectful and they are the reason we require very little signage. Specifically for pets, we ask that our guests do not allow their pets to sleep in the bed. It is very difficult to remove pet hair from the sheets as well as it can spread in the washer. Listed in the same section you mentioned it says that if you need your pet to sleep in your bed we can provided extra sheeting. We just discourage this action. As for your statement about more hotels accepting dogs. This statement is specifically meant for us here in Ouray. There are very few facilities that still accept pets and we are one. That is all we were trying to imply. Also, When guests arrive it is a very common occurrence to lose track of our time zone. Our housekeepers do not come into work until 8:30AM as well as, they have to stock their closets and get their supplies before they knock on guests doors. The time difference may have been a factor in the "early" knocking. If not, be assured that we have already spoken to the staff about what is an appropriate time to knock. I hope this further information helps to explain our reasoning and actions. We look forward to your next stay wit us!
Best Wishes,
Tim W.

We stayed in a second story room, and every room has a great view with a bench outside for reading or happy hour. The on-site tiki bar is located on a very nice little patio and is great for relaxing after a day of traveling. Beautifully landscaped all over with fountains and flowers.
Room is well appointed for a motel type room, but you have to rent the robes for $5! This should be included IMO.
Breakfast omelets were a nice addition to an otherwise typical hotel breakfast. Overall we were very pleased that we had chosen Twin Peaks after being able to see the other hotels nearby.

Hello BCFlag!
Thank you for painting a lovely picture and leaving this review. The Robes are a brand new edition to the hotel this year. The reason they are for rent and not included is because we have also overhauled our pricing for this year. We allow guests to rent the robe as an option. This way we don't have to include it in the room price and make our rates go up. Thanks again for your review and i hope this information helps you and future guests.
Best of luck,
Tim W.

Most of the other hotels in town were booked when I arrived, but it turned out that I still got one of the best. The room was clean, attractive, and comfortable. The hotel grounds are also nice, including the pool and hot springs pools. Breakfast included made-to-order omlettes. I ordered room service from the hotel restaurant and found that to be good, too.

The only problem I can see is that they do not allow check-ins before 3:00, and the office is closed until that time. I can't imagine that is convenient for most travelers.

Hi HereAndThere79!
Thanks for leaving an awesome review! I did want to point out that our lobby is open at 8:00 Am everyday and there is always a way to get a hold of someone. We use a phone line in the lobby and put a sign next to it that says to "dial 100 for assistance". We are needed by guests, staff, and many tasks that require us to leave the front desk. We are able to complete these with the help of the 100 phone. What also may have struck some confusion is the sign that also says "check in today will be 3:00 pm". We need this sign to solidify what time our check in is, as well as quickly answer a very common question by arriving guests if we are not in the office. Now that we have cleared that up we hope you no longer have an issue and look forward to giving you another great experience.
Best Wishes,
Tim W

This year our experience at Twin Peaks for the week was a much better experience than our stay last year. There are some areas they need to improve, but overall, the motel is clean, comfortable, and pretty accommodating. They provided a very good experience for the kids with the pool and outdoor movie on Friday night. This was a really nice experience and we will try it again when we come this way.

Room Tip: We had 7 in our party and the 1st night had to stay in a combined room with 1 bathroom, really cramp...
