“Average acommodations, not very clean, far out of town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2011

Upon arrival we had full trash cans and dirty piles of towels. Upon notifying the front desk they said there had been a mix up. They moved us and gave us a $25 gift cert for dinner. Nice gesture. The condos/rooms are dated and not very clean (dirty bathroom floors). The kitchen appliances were nice and everything worked. The resort is on the far west side of town so you have to drive 10 mins or so back to downtown to go to the springs, good restaurants, etc. If we come back to Pagosa I would recommend paying the extra $ and staying at the Pagosa Hot Springs resort. Wyndham was cheap though and the adage holds true... you get what you pay for.

Pagosa Springs is a lovely town close to many wonderful things in southwestern CO. We traded our timeshare for a week in the Ptarmigan section of the resort. These a single story duplex-type units. Quiet and private. Free wifi! Appliances were new Cuisiare and GE. Also two flat screen t.v.s. Furnishing were a bit tired, but sufficient. Check-in was smooth. Do not waste your time with the welcome appointment, as others have said. The Sunday evening presentation has free custard. Get there early to get raffle tickets and a free mini-massage. No hard sell; just information from local tour providers. You need to drive everywhere within the resort. No sauna to be found. Washer and drier in unit were great so we could pack light and wash as needed. No towel service, but I'd much rather have the washer to use as needed, even for their towels, then get towels replaced but have dirty clothes.

Ate at Tequila's. on the river across from The Springs resort. Good, reasonable Mexican food with a wonderful view. Pagoda Brewing Co. is very close. Funky atmosphere, outside under a tent, bark floor. Food was great. Loved the root beer float made of their own brewed root beer. Fragosa had great salsa, pizza, and paninis.

Spent half a day at the Springs Resort. It was worth the $16 discount from the Wyndham. You get a wristband for use of the facilities. Loved the Serendipity pool with it's waterfall; no need to pay for a back message! Bring your own towel, soap, and shampoo. Lockers are only $2 and you can enter them over and over. They don't rent tubes for the river, but you can get them across the street and float over to the resort.

While there we drove to Durango to take the train to Silverton. The expensive Silver Vista car is worth it. Reserve online ahead of time. Views are amazing. Service is fabulous - free drinks, tote bag, souvenir cup, ponchos if needed, and blankets to use if you're cold. In Silverton had lunch at Thee Pitts, Again - big pink building. Popular, but quick with the crowds. Shared a half slab of excellent BBQ ribs.

Drove to Mesa Verde about 2 hrs. away. The native Puebloans ruins are amazing. Ranger-led tours are very informative. Don't be afraid of climbing the ladders. Be sure to go to Spruce Tree House where you take a self-guided tour. There is a reconstructed kiva you can climb down into so you really feel what it was like for the ancients. We went to both the Cliff House and the Balcony House. We found both great, but if you only have time for one, we recommend Balcony House.

Great trip until water system breached and we became ill. Pathetic that no one notified guests that we were supposed to be under safety orders to not drink water or be in the lake! Otherwise enjoyed Wyndam

We stayed at the Wyndham Pagosa for the weekend. It was my partner's bday. Not impressed with the room, completely outdated. The view was not what I expected. I requested a lakeview at front desk. I was told it was for property owners and week long stays; however, I was place on a "waiting list", false hope provided by the front desk clerk.

Customer service was pushy. Indicated I had to return for a gift bag and an hour long presentation on what I call "Time-share" buy in. I was not please with this and definitely did not give in; however, Tami was easy to talk to. Not impressed with the contents in the gift bag, 2 water bottles. Did recieve a gift certificate to an area restaurant. This was probably the best gift from the Wyndham Pogosa. Thanks!

I was an employee of Wyndham hotels at one point in Corpus Christi, Tx, and can honestly say, from my perspective, customer satisfaction/service was at the top of our list.

Room Tip: Buy a timeshare

We live in the Denver area and wanted to see more of the state. We booked our trip months in advance. When we arrived to the resort they had lost our reservation and they were unable to locate us in the computer. We had received a email conformation from Wyndham prior to the trip. It took us over an hour to finally get checked in. Once we got to the condo, it was not at all what we had expected. It was dark and extremely small with no patio. We contacted our concierge and she did move us to another unit.
The second unit had more light, but it was very dated and in serious dis-repair. It was extremely dirty and was not stocked with linens for the sofa bed. Not to mention there were only there spoons in the entire silverware drawer (See photos). We tried to get our money back the next morning but the Wyndham policy does not give refunds.
We then were moved to a "deluxe unit" which was considerably nicer but was nasty dirty! There were food crumbs and body hair everywhere. The bathroom shower was covered in mold and the sink faucet was broken. The register vents where flocked with dust and mold (See photos).
We wasted at least one day of our three day trip dealing with changing condos. Also, they were not at all willing to work with us on the time of the meeting to discuss the survey. My husband did show up at the time they requested (1:30) and they refused to meet with him because I was not there. I was at the condo with our son feeding him lunch. All together this trip was a disappointment and a huge waste of valuable vacation time.

Room Tip: Stay at the springs hotel and spa. It's a much better deal since passes are about $18 a person...

Our stay here was quite good because it was perfectly situated in the area we really wanted to explore. Day trips to Mesa Verde, Silverton, hiking and golf. There is a nice course winding throughout the condo complex. One thing to know about the units is that they are on the older side but updated. Some units are 3 flights up with no stairs and the welcome center is very dated. We hated feeling 'cornered' to do a 'survey' which really means a sales presentation...but we avoided it since we were so busy. Our check in was a mess...but it was a fluke situation that night and the desk clerk really tried hard to make us happy...as Wyndham staffers typically try to do! The condo unit was a 2 bedroom...very beautiful views but no high window coverings so we were up with the sun every day! The kitchen had the basics..so a stay here can save you a LOT on food bills if you stock up the fridge for picnics and breakfasts and have a couple of home cooked meals if you care to. There is no pool..but they give you a pass to a rec center in the complex..but it's an indoor pool. Overall...great location, nice, secure, clean and spacious units and the setting is very beautiful. You might see some interesting animals around the area too! You'll definitely see golfers!

Room Tip: Ask if they have upgrades available. If they do, you might get lucky! Ask if there are stairs!

We used the resort as a place to do day trips from. We went on Monday to Treasure Falls,Continental Divide and the tallest point in the area. Tuesday we went to Four Corners area. Wednesday we went to Crete. Thursday we went to Ouray. Friday we stayed in Pagosa area.
The resort staff should be commended on how they made sure all seven of us were comfortable in our unit and had every thing we needed. The recreation areas were very cordial and helpful to our various needs.
We look forward to when we can return again.
