“Lovely Place to enjoy the night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2012

This little gem of a lodge was great for our quick getaway during the week. We left a little late and expected to arrive in town later than the 3pm check-in. The lady who answered was sweet and understanding and confirmed we were still booked for the evening. We arrived later that evening excited to unpack. I went inside and was greeted by the two nicest ladies. One of them was helpful by giving me a map of the local trails while the other one wrapped up my transaction.

The room was modest size, but the cleanliness of our room was amazing. I enjoyed all of the local literature about the amentities, restaurants, and activities around the area. The bathroom area was stocked with necessities and there was plenty of storage space. We watched some shows on their television which included basic extended cable. The hot tubs in the back are also very nice with easy to read dials and settings.

The location of the lodge is next to a major road, so if you are a light sleeper you may want to pay a little more and rent out the cabins located further back on the property. It's a quick jaunt both to town and also to the major trails that lead to the waterfalls around Pagosa Springs. The complimentary breakfast could use a little more variety in the food selection. It mainly consisted of sugary sweets, cereals, and waffles. I think some protein-related foods would be beneficial especially for hikers.

We enjoyed having you as our guests. Thank you so much for staying with us and taking the time to share your experience with other travelers. It sounds like you had a great time here, and we hope you will come back whenever you can.
Regarding breakfast, we do have hard boiled eggs on our daily breakfast, and on weekends we add sausage gravy and biscuits. We will take your suggestion under advisement-it is always helpful to know where we can improve and the next steps we need to take. Thanks again.

We recently stayed at High Country Lodge and I cannot say enough. Our Cabin was top notch and comfortable with upgraded amenities like flat screen TV's. The hotubs were perfect to soak away a long day of activity and the views are the best in town. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our group and we couldn't say enough about the owners who made us feel like family. Thank you High Country Lodge for making our trip something we will always remember. We highly recommend this lodge to any travelers in the four corners and Southwest Colorado.

Good stay on our way home. Just one night. Friendly staff and clean room. Good breakfast. Very helpful staff that were knowledgable about the locat area. Don't really have any complaints but it was not a five star stay either. I would recommend it to a friend. It was quiet and we both got a good nights rest.

Overall the High Country Lodge was OK for a one night stay on our family vacation. The rooms were a modest size (not small, but not spacious) and unfortunately the A/C didn't work at all well in our room (made a lot of noise, but not any real cooling). It was on a busy (noisy) road too into Pagosa Springs (the hotel is located about 5-6 minute drive out of Pagosa Springs itself). The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly.

Thank you for taking time to write a review. We encourage guests to contact us immediately upon check in to their accomodations if there is the slightest problem because we will take care of it as soon as we know about it. As soon as you notified us, we changed out the entire
air conditioning unit, which unfortunately was the day you checked out. Had we known about it
when you checked in, we would have moved you to another room for your comfort.
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the highway noise, but then almost every hotel in Pagosa Springs has the same problem, as Hwy 160 is the main route through town, and most of the hotelss are situated right on the highway.
We do try to make everyone's stay as pleasurable as possible, and we are glad you liked our staff and breakfast. We hope you will give us another try the next time you are in the area.

We stayed here for three nights in one of their cabins and would return again. The cabin was modern, spotless, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and the included breakfasts were first-rate with hot waffles, cereal, muffins, and biscuits and gravy on our last day there. Highly recommended in all respects.

Was doing a road trip with god-daughter, and after a long hard day of driving, High Country Lodge was a welcome respite. Stayed in a two-bed cabin that was spotless and charming. Bed REALLY comfortable. Nice clean kitchenette. Grounds well-kept. Yes, you could hear trucks come down the highway, but so what. Front desk staff professional, friendly and helpful. Definitely a return visit is in order if we pass this way again.

Looking for a place to stay while in PS then look no further. The staff was friendly and helpful and the cabins were clean. We ran into a minor glitch (mother nature's fault not the staff) in that the cabins did not have AC. With the entire southwest in the midst of a heat wave this made our first night a little stuffy. We explained that to the staff and they were extremely accommodating in getting us a room in the hotel part of the property, which of course had AC. Should we find ourselves back in PS again we would for sure stay here.
