Our family of six had two rooms. Everything was in order. Easy check in, close to a decent restaurant and the kids loved the hot tub. Wifi was spotty and only one device could access it. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was quite good, the lodge, breakfast area was extremely nice. Will definitely stay here whenever we're in Pagosa Springs.

We enjoyed hosting you and your family. It sounds like you had a great time-we look forward to seeing you often throughout the seasons. Some guests think of us a a winter resort and others come for rafting and summer fun. But the truth is, this area has so much to offer in every season, you will always find activities to spark your interest.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.

We stayed in cabin 404. It was clean and comfy. My favorite place we've stayed. The hot tubs were gret. Felt awsome to sit in the hot tub after skiing all day. They have movies and board games to rent at no charge. We will stay here every time.

Thanks so much for staying with us! We are the closest lodge on this side of Wolf Creek Pass, and only about 20 miles from the ski area. Our cabins are really cozy and comfortable in the winter, and close to the hot tub deck for after ski relaxation. Now that you have found a favorite cabin, be sure to ask for it when you return, and we will try to give it to you. Winter is in full swing now, with more snow on the way tonight. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We appreciate the review!

We stayed in one of the little cabins and found it to be cute, cozy and perfect! A real stone fireplace with real logs! The hot tubs, grounds, breakfast room and lodge were very nice, well stocked, warm and inviting. Truly a great little place :)

We rented a cabin. It was perfect. The kitchen made it possible for us to have a cute romantic dinner in our cabin instead of spending our money out. Breakfast was decent and nice that it was free. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and very ready to give suggestions about the area. There were a couple things that could be improved. The pillows were pretty bad. Bring your own if possible. Also, the heater would make a clicking sound that would wake me up. Luckily there was a portable one available in the closet so I could turn the main one off and get a good night's sleep.

We are so glad you enjoyed your cabin-they are quite special and provide the true Colorado experience. While the cabins are similar, each is still unique, and offers it's own special ambiance. Our knowledgeable staff all know this area well, and have a lot of great suggestions for recreation, dining out, and entertainment.

We hope you will visit us again-this is a place that can be a sweet little getaway for a couple or a wonderful meeting place for a group of friends. Whatever your pleasure-we are ready to help you make memories. Thank you for your kind review.

This is not a 5 star hotel. But it is the nicest place to stay in Pagosa and at a reasonable price. The staff goes above a beyond. The rooms are very clean and my bed and pillows were very comfortable. I travel here frequently for business, and the High Country Lodge will be my favorite place to stay!!

Room Tip: Great hot tubs, cabins, and even a steam room! Breakfast is served each morning. This place is a f...

Thank you so much for lodging with us and telling others about your experience here. As a frequent business traveler, we hope to see you often and promise to provide you with the same great hospitality as the first time. If you come back after Thanksgiving, you will have a real treat--our Christmas decor at the lodge is gorgeous, and Pagosa Springs looks like something on a Christmas card.
Thanks again for writing a review- we look forward to seeing you soon!

As this was rated #1 on tripadvisor, this is where we stayed.

Star checked us in. She was very friendly and provided us with hiking advice. We were pleased to learn the hot tubs and sauna were open until 11PM.

The room was a typical motel room. The bathroom was tight and the toilet small. The room was clean. The motel is located on the highway. The rooms aren't the most soundproof. The highway noise ended up not being an issue, but noise from other rooms can be heard. This didn't cause us lack of sleep, but I put it in here as it could be an issue for some people.

The shower had plenty of hot water.

We went out to the 104 degree water in the hot tub and enjoyed the starry sky. The sauna instructions say it takes a while to heat up. That was true. If you want to use the sauna, plan ahead and turn it on.

The breakfast was good. They have better scrambled eggs than one normally finds at a motel. They had a good variety of food and you will find it a better breakfast than almost any motel. The breakfast room was cozy, but in a good way.

The staff are very friendly and talked to us more about hiking ideas.

I was a little disappointed that the hot tub doesn't open until 11AM. It would be nice for weird people like me to get a quick dip before checking out. I am guessing from the staff perspective it is nice to take care of breakfast than do the hot tub maintenance next.

Check out was again friendly.

They had boardgames and videos one can borrow

I wish we had more time in Pagosa Springs. When we come back, we will stay here again.

After leaving we drove east towards Wolf Creek Pass. The fall foliage and gorgeous mountain views were fabulous. Two troopers seemed to be aggressively working the pass.

At the top, we drove east and took the left sided dirt road to head up to the top for a nice view. It is about 3 miles one way. After coming down, we continued east. WATCH OUT FOR THE RADAR CAMERAS. It appears they may do photo radar and issue tickets at 6mph over the speed limit.

Room Tip: They have pet friendly rooms, so use that info. as you will.

The lodge is located a little north of Pagosa Springs, so you are not right in town, but it's in a pretty setting and much quieter. The room was clean and well appointed. We enjoyed our stay and will stay there the next time in Pagosa.
