The Marioli hotel is an apartment complex, rather than a hotel, in Serifos island, Cyclades, Greece. It consists of various room types (e.g. two bedroom villas, one bedroom villas, small apartments etc.). We made a reservation for a three-level villa and we were told on the phone that it is a newly build, spacious, tastefully decorated villa with sea view, which we particularly requested for. After confirming three times the reservation and the type of accommodation (especially the sea view) when we arrived on the island we were led to a smaller villa, with two levels, the one level (the bedroom) was underground and surprisingly there was no sea view! Actually there was no view at all, all you could see was the back wall of a small house and their laundry. it was really depressing. We indicated that and they (not very politely) changed our room. The second one was a small room (not a villa) with a small balcony where if you could stand up on one side you could see a little sea! That was the sea view. Anyway, at least you could see the road and not other people's laundry so we chose that. Again the price for this room was the very same as for the three level villa with sea view, which we had reserved. We were obliged to query with the owners about that and they insisted that the price is the same!!! Finally they were kind enough to make a 10 euro reduction! The room was not very old, it was not newly build as well. All doors and window blinds had trouble opening and closing, walls and closets had stains of killed insects on them, chairs and table at the balcony were terribly dirty so you could not sit there, there was no place to leave wet towels and bathing suites to dry and after having a shower the whole room was flood of waters as the drainage was terrible. Of course it wasn't the most terrible room I have ever seen but it did not worth the money we paid for it and the worst part is that we were deceived on the phone. The description of the accomodation was completely different of what we saw.
