Best hotel for miles

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jul 2019
Stayed here on 6th July as was going to a gig in Milton Keynes. This is without doubt one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, everything was perfect. The rooms were spacious with really cosy beds and great pillows, a fan and iron and ironing board were also for use. The Tassimo coffee machine was an added bonus with every kind of coffee and tea at your fingertips. The shower/bathroom had heated towel rails and plenty of towels. The staff were very polite and helpful, the restaurant area was magnificent as was the outside garden area. Breakfast was spectacular also. We will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed here on a Saturday night as we were attending a concert at Stadium MK. We were rally fortunate to find this place the price and location were excellent. Only a 10 minute drive to MK, 5 minutes from the M1 and attached to a pub too.

Check in was very easy, staff friendly and helpful. Our room was in the first block and opened onto the main pub garden. Not an issue for us but could be for others.

The rooms are a decent size and well equipped, large flat screen tv, coffee machine, Fridge, iron, ironing board and good sized bathroom.

So far so good, now for the negatives.

Initially the room looked very clean however this was not the case. I pulled back the Bedside looker, to plug in my phone charger, to be greater with a thick layer of dust along the skirting board and going all the way under the bed. This was disappointing it looked as though it had never been cleaned, quite poor really as I’d expect this to get cleaned once a month at a minimum. On top of the wardrobe was a dehumidifier bag, caked in a thick layer of dust - again never cleaned.

We could not find the remote control for the TV anywhere. Not the end of the world but frustrating as it meant getting out of bed to turn the tv off, change channel etc.. we didn’t ask at reception if a remote was available or if this was just an oversight as we weren’t in the room long enough.

The fridge in the room was a blessing it was the height of summer and I was delighted to have the ability to chill some drinks.
We arrived back to hotel at 23:30, open the fridge to get a bottle of steer only to find it was still at room temperature. I pulled the fridge out to find that it was turned of at the wall socket. I imagine to save money/ reduce carbon emissions. Very frustrating. What’s the point in having a fridge in the room if it’s not turned on!

I would stay at this place again. The price and location are spot on. Unfortunately a few minor issues have let down what would otherwise be a fantastic room.

We had a lovely meal here with some friends. The menu was fantastic from start to finish. The platters for starters Devine and you couldn’t fault the steak and sides. Staff are completely attentive. Highly recommend if you love your meat

This restaurant relies on its reputation and B&B. Been visiting for years but the arrogance of the staff increases each visit.

Why I feel this restaurant is mediocre.

Wine was served with fluff in glass, the barmaid explains its the polishing glass and fishes the fluff out with a spoon.

The food order came with mistakes including the sides going with the wrong mains.

A salad described as plum tomatoes was served with salad tomatoes/ there wasn’t any plum tomatoes...

The fillet steak was perhaps the worst I’ve had, chewy- lots of fat and despite complaining it was re-served to me

The waiters/ waitress never offered us any sauces with our mains or did they return to check us if things were ok

All in all - I would say all aspects of the establishment failed

    I won’t be hurrying back!

Hope your restaurant learns constructively from this review and I hope those who are searching for reputable establishment look else where to avoid disappointment

5 nights here with work colleagues.
Accommodation was really good, rooms felt new, clean bathrooms and good sized baths. Beds comfy and quality linen.
Accommodation is in the grounds of a pub and that’s really the problem. It’s a popular place with locals and the restaurant is busy. This means there is no where to sit until late with friends or colleagues and have a drink. If the restaurant is at capacity there is literally nowhere to sit and lounge.
Despite a group of us paying almost £2500 for the week there we could not get a regular large table in the restaurant that we wanted every night.
Food was generally good but the breakfast were often served cold during the week.
Ordering drinks at nearly 11pm was often met with a little ‘attitude’ from behind the bar with an instruction to take the drinks to our rooms.
Therefore this place does lack the creature comforts of a ‘proper’ hotel in accommodating it’s guests but nevertheless it is a good place to stay just be mindful that the facilities are only a pub, operating pub hours.
