They are lovely and teaming with wild life.....get into the national forest (San Isabel) and hike. head south toward Rye and Colorado City and enjoy the day!
I live 16 miles south of Westcliffe in the Wets at 9100 feet...I love it!

“This is Why People Live in Colorado”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

When You think of all the stories about how beautiful the Colorado Rocky Mountains are, You begin to wonder if people were just listening to too much John Denver or a little to Rocky Mountain High! Then You get here and You'd have to be deaf, dumb and stupid not to be completely impressed with this vista! Hey Honey, When's our mortage paid off?

“Up close and personal”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

The wet mountains are beautiful. Full of coyotes, bear, fox, etc. I was able to visit for 2 weeks and found it fascinating how the mountains never got boring to look at. The Sun made all the difference. I was there for the first snowfall and saw the mountains glisten in the sun. Great place to visit.
