“Almost afraid to let the secret out!”
Reviewed 13 October 2010

We were so delighted by our stay at this out-of-the-way, peaceful, breathtaking getaway, it's difficult to share its treasure. We stayed here in late August 2010 for our anniversary, and were surprised we had never heard of or stayed here before, as it was not that far from our home. One has a choice of a cozy lodge, condos, cabins, and camping spots (we stayed in a wonderful, quiet lodge room with a fireplace and deck). The scenery and value are unbeatable! Yes, you are out of cell-phone range, and if you need to bring in groceries, do so before leaving the city, but it is SO worth it! And, if a delicious, leisurely dinner out is your wish, the onsite restaurant is excellent. The breakfast and check-out are rather late in the morning compared to some locations, though, so plan to sleep in. The location offers a nice variety of activities, and hiking there is gorgeous. This is our new favorite in-state vacation spot!

We were given a "lodge" room with a stained, burned, worn carpet, dirty coffee maker with no cups, utensils, etc., frig freezer that was clogged with ice, a miniscule shower that was very difficult for a 127 lb. 5"6" female t fit into, two single futons that served as second and third beds were sagging, hard and stained, and the blankets were worn. It is remotely located on a six mile dirt road, but the resort restaurant did not open till 8 AM and there was no advice to take food (we leave early to photograph wildlife), no office hours were posted nor was there anywhere to drop a key. The walls and ceilings are paper thin and one can hear every word of the neighbors. After running into a manager at the restaurant the second day we were changed to a lower, cheaper room that had bunk beds (but "real" mattresses), a larger frig (still needed defrosting and ice trays), and a cleaner carpet. However, the ceiling creaked every time the upper neighbors moved and apparently there is no housekeeping as the first room was not made up the second day.

I went to Beaver Meadows for a wedding, the wedding site was beautiful, the accomadations left a lot to be desired. All I could think was that the bride either didn't check out the condo's or cabins or the management keeps 1 in good shape to show. Windows with missing cranks (stuck open, no screens), no cold water in upstairs sink, no veggie drawers in the fridge, not enough silverware or dishes for the condo. My nieces cabin had pack mice, she complained & they took 1 night off the bill, but at close to 200 a night this is not acceptable. The staff were very nice but I would not go back

Very disappointing.Looking forward to a restful week. Found the room to be dirty. Moved to a 2nd room also dirty. Left early and had to find another place to spend 3 nights. We found a nice place that salvaged our trip! The people were nice when we explained that we were leaving early they seemed to understand why.

My daughter, myself, our friends, dogs and cat spent Thanksgiving at the Meadows and stayed in one of the condos. We had a wonderful experience. Our condo had a fantastic view overlooking the valley. We most enjoyed playing pond hockey on the big pond, sliding down the inner tubing hill and using the rope tow to relax on the way back up only to slide down again and again with my daughter squealing with delight. We were further taken by a personal visit from the resort manager Linda, she came in sat down with us and made sure that we truly having a pleasurable experience. I've never been to a resort where the top manager makes sure personally that you are having a good experience, what a nice change from the big cold resorts that only want your money and don't care who you are.
Our last day topped the cake with the Icing as we went on a horseback trip around the resort with a very knowledgeable guide.
I would recommend this resort experience to everyone... What a nice place to spend the weekend anytime.

My family (wife, 4 kids) and I were there Nov. 26 - Nov. 28 and enjoyed the place very much. Had a great turkey meal with good friends. Cooked in the condo and had a good rocky mountain breakfast in the restaurant. My little ones rode the inner tubes, but had the most fun ice skating and horseback riding. We plan on going back in a few weeks and definitely in the summer for camping and fishing.

I spent the Thanksgiving weekend up at the Beaver Meadows Resort with friends. We had several young children with us and a couple of dogs. The resort is very kid and pet friendly. I read the older unflattering reviews. This was not our experience. I do know that the resort has just recently change management. Our condo was freshly painted and clean with a complete kitchen; we had an enchanting view both day and night that looked over the valley. We took full advantage of the tubing hill, ice skating pond and even took an hour long horse back ride. The tubing hill has its own lift which I was very grateful for. I don’t know what else to say except that the food was great and service impeccable.
