We stopped at this wonderful old hotel for lunch. It was a great day with hummingbirds flitting outside the windows of as we had lunch. Lunch is served in the bar area which is by the pool. We both had the Coal Basin Burger which has besides the normal hamburger patty and bun, smoked pork, bacon, BBQ sauce, both cheddar and Swiss cheese and crispy onion strings. We shouldn't have but we ate the w-h-o-l-e thing because it was that good. 8 hours later we still weren't hungry.

I don't know if they were short a waitress but there was too much for the two waitresses to cover. We had gotten there early but it filled up very quickly.

Yes, it was a little more expensive ($15.50) that you will find in a lot of places but it is in the middle of nowhere. Nowhere costs more.

Fine menu with specials. Very good wine list with more than average by the glass. Bar area can be a little loud; the bar is a favorite with locals.

One of the best burgers.....grass fed beef is the reason. Enjoy your food in the bar and enjoy the views and learn a little Inn history from the wait staff & bartenders. Check out the pool and outside event area where many wedding ceremonies take. place

I was taken here for a birthday lunch by a friend. I ordered the salmon wrap which was $14.95. When lunch was served there was really no salmon in the wrap. I asked the waitress about this and she said 1 other person had mentioned this. She said she had spoken to the kitchen but they didn't listen to her. because I was a guest I let it go. As a vegetarian wrap it was pretty good. As a salmon wrap it was a lie!

The new dining room menu has truly gluten free items. We questioned the staff on how the items were prepared to find out that they take every precaution to avoid cross contamination. To be truly gluten free is not easy to accomplish in a commercial kitchen. Everything was prepared to near perfection and we had a wonderful evening. Be prepared to spend some time however as this is not fast food. Things often move a little slower in this part of western Colorado. You can't rush near perfection. You can also eat in the bar which is more casual and has a separate menu to match. We will start taking photos. Forgot the camera this night.
