“Charming hotel in secluded town.”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

Town of Redstone is across Crystal River from Hwy 133. Redstone Inn is a charming 100 year old hotel, with well maintained grounds, heated pool, jacuzzi and gym. Approx 75 rooms, library, tennis court, popular bar and restaurant, and formal dining room. Food and service in the bar was very good and food was much better than standard pub food. Wait staff and receptionist were always attentive and helpful. We had a king room on 3rd floor with 1/2 bath and shared bath/shower. Never a problem with shower availability. Room with king was very private with nice views and very comfortable bed.

Redstone is 30 miles South of Glenwood Springs on Hwy 133. Originally built for coalmine workers in 1902 along with the town. Mine has long since closed. The area has stunning scenery, and hiking. Marble (5 miles South) is very interesting (Lincoln memorial stone from the Marble quarry). Take jeep tour to crystal city, or hike. Glenwood Springs has lots of activity including adventure park and mineral hot springs. Aspen is 50mi away on good 4 lane road, well worth a visit, as well as Independence Pass (road to Leadville from Aspen), with crazy bends.

Arrived in town expecting a couple of rundown motels, and was very impressed with RedstoneInn. Extended our stay by 1 day as had such a great time. We will be returning.

Room Tip: get room overlooking garden on East side. West side gets afternoon sun.

quaint historic hotel. Clean and comfortable, expect small rooms. We were there for a wedding so we had 2 breakfasts and a catered dinner. All were delicious. The catered meal was one of the best I have had. Staff was helpfully. Breakfast service on the patio was relatively quick considering the number of guests sitting on the patio.

We stayed at the Redstone Inn for 4 nights. They upgraded us from a Queen to a King so we would be more comfortable. We don't have a lot of experience staying in "historic" places, and we've always wanted to stay here. Staff was great, bar & grill was good, but the main dining room was a little pricey. There was only one other restaurant in Redstone, so you don't have a lot of choices. The Castle tour was great!

We had a lovely stay at the Redstone Inn. Our rooms were clean and private. Our dinner in the dining room was surprisingly delicious. This is not a super fancy place.. but a really sweet old hotel, in a beautiful quiet setting. In the evening there was a relaxed feel with families and sweethearts hanging out.

I do agree with the review that says to set your expectations. This is not a high end luxury hotel, but a warm, friendly, historic hotel that will slow you down and charm you.

We took a ride out to Redstone and spent the night at the Redstone Inn. Nice property that is well maintained and has a focus on its guests. Pool and Hot tub are nice. Bar is well run and friendly. They have live music in the Park for the summer series. We enjoyed the town as everyone is very friendly.

Room Tip: Second story gives a nice view without putting up with parking lot noise. During the Lunch and Dinn...

First, let me set your expectations. If you frequent high end luxury hotels, please note the word "historic" in the title. I don't want to see negative reviews of a fabulous inn because someone was expecting the Waldorf.

We stayed in the Dormer Queen room. It was quaint and small. It was barely large enough to house the queen size bed and half bath, but we loved the feel of the history all around us. The room has a half bath and there are men's and women's bathrooms on the floor with showers that are shared amongst guests on the floor. While the accommodations weren't posh, they were adequate. I should also note that we chose the room solely on price. This is likely the cheapest room they rent so feel free to spend more and get a much larger and more luxurious room!

We were greeted warmly by the staff at the front desk. Throughout our stay, the staff at the front desk were friendly, accommodating and helpful. I even called them the day of our arrival to request fruit and champagne. Knowing this is a smaller family style inn, I knew it was short notice but they accommodated my request and went out of their way to make sure the fruit basket and champagne were placed at the right time so they weren't sitting out for hours. I can't say enough positive things about each and every staff member we encountered throughout our stay!

We arrived back at our room later one evening and were looking for somewhere to eat. We wandered into the bar at 8:55 PM knowing they close at 9:00. I wasn't expecting to be able to get anything more than a drink or maybe some bar food, but the wait staff went out of his way to make sure we got anything off their menu (the bar menu AND the regular restaurant menu). We just ordered some fish tacos and fish 'n' chips expecting something quick and dirty. We were both pleasantly surprised when we received our fresh entrees that were both delicious and well prepared! A wonderful surprise given we were expecting greasy bar food.

The solo guiterist providing live music during our late dinner was both fun and entertaining in spite of the fact there were probably only 10 people in the whole bar.

The surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning. I'll let the poets write a more appropriate description of the raw beauty that surrounds this wonderful inn.

There were nice outdoor spaces with a pool and hot tub. We met lots of wonderful people from all over the US while just relaxing in the hot tub.

The little town of Redstone is fun to walk through and explore. It's not commercialized so you won't find any glitzy shops or outlet stores. Instead you'll find friendly people and a few family owned businesses.

Redstone provides you close access to lots of other destinations like Carbondale, Marble, Glenwood Springs and Aspen. We found lots of great hiking and fishing in close proximity to the inn and enjoyed exploring some of the local hot springs.

We will definitely be back to this inn and will try one of the larger rooms!

The room was clean. The hotel was nice. The grounds need some help. But, if you are riding a motorcycle you will not be as welcomed as those traveling by Audi, Mercedes, BMW and so on. When checking in we inquired about the dinning room. We were told that "we" would do better at the cafe down the street. Later that evening we asked to have our drinks on the patio by the pool so one member of our party could smoke. We told by a server that we could go to the old patio behind the pool house if we wanted to smoke. Later that same evening, the same server was serving drinks to a gentelman smoking a cigar next to the pool.

The next morning for breakfast, we were told the same thing--we would do better at the cafe down the street--which was closed. I was very disapointed in our stay. The older staff is very curt and unfriendly. The younger staff seemed more welcoming. If you are motorcycling through this area, stay in Carbondale, you will be welcomed there.

Room Tip: Stay in Carbondale! Stop by this place, take a picture or two then move on.
