This mountain lodge has a fun Euro feel to it and is incredibly warm and comfortable. The main living areas of this fabulous Inn boast comfortable leather seating, lush dark wood and fixtures, and charming historical photos of years past in the river valley. Two streams run through the 20 private acres, so there is the constant peaceful hum of moving water. A lovely pool, hot tub, and various sitting areas sit in back of the property. There is also a cute little chalet, or cottage recently built on the river, with plans to add a number more, per the proprietors. The rooms themselves are comfortable and clean and, given the relatively small size of the Inn, you really don't run into that many other people. It really is living off the grid! The town of Redstone was charming and the stores adorable, almost as if they never experienced city folk. There was a delightful ranch across the street where we were able to take horses up into the mountain trails; a delightful little jaunt! Hot springs are also located right down the street, which we found remarkably soothing after a day on moguls and powder. And to top it off, the on-site restaurant offered wonderful daily specials, prepared to the highest standard, yet without any hint of aloofness you might find in other nearby towns. Definitely worth checking out, even if you're not a guest at the Inn. The proprietors, front desk staff, housekeeping, and all restaurant staff were most courteous and helpful, the goal clearly to make our stay the best it could be. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: My personal preference is to be on the second level, floor two. Nice balconies to sit on. Also had...

My husband and I were at the Redstone Inn Summer 2013 as part of a driving trip from Ohio. We flew into Denver, and continued a loop around Colorado, beginning in Estes Park, and ending up in Durango, and back to Denver. We knew The Redstone was off the beaten path, but we like digging up history, and exploring, and that's just what this little town felt like. Redstone is literally one small road with shops, restaurants and some residential. We walked up and down several times in our two-day stay. It sort-of feels like the place time forgot. NO cell reception, and just peace and quiet. The Redstone Inn itself was very clean, and as long as you understand you are staying in a historic motel, you won't be disappointed. The floors creak, and are not level, the plumbing isn't "modern" like we're used to. But, it's clean and quite comfortable, and the staff is excellent. We ate in the restaurant there a couple times. Food was good; a little slow, but it was still fine. Would definitely recommend this gem if you are headed "west" as we were.

We had a basic room, which was fine. We did have a problem the second night with a whistling radiator. It took a long time to locate the source of the problem--at about 4 a.m.--but someone came when we did determine the source and offered us another room, which was a little newer and quite nice. This didn't make up for the loss of sleep, though. When I complained, the charge for that night was immediately taken off our bill, with apologies. So we were happy about their response. Oh, we did have to prop a window open. I'm sure someone would have brought something to prop it up with if we'd been more assertive--we just used a drawer. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, it's a very attractive and interesting historic building.
Food was good and we enjoyed eating outside, the scenery was beautiful, and we enjoyed looking at the old coke ovens and the company cottages in the old town. It was also a good location to get to Marble, to Aspen and to the Maroon Bells.

Room Tip: You might want to check out the radiator if you take an older room on the second floor. We had a ba...

So loud with no sound insulation whatsoever. Lock on the door to the room was exactly like the kind of lock one put's on a bathroom door. No security whatsoever. Carpet was dirty emerald green. Even for a historic property, this room was so outdated it was unreasonable. I have stayed (by preference) at historic hotels all over the county .... this was simply a run down room where the heat or something in the walls and ceiling was so loud it was impossible to sleep. Additionally, anyone who walked, coughed or whatever next door or in the room above was audibly like being in your room with you ....

One redeeming factor was dinner in the restaurant. The food was very good.

But NEVER again!

We are extremely sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us at The Historic Redstone Inn. Thank you for taking the time to give us your thoughts.

It sounds like you stayed in one of the Terrace rooms. We appreciate that you noticed all of the issues in those rooms. The Terrace rooms are the next rooms to be renovated in March. As I am sure you know, renovations in a 125 year old building are a slow process! We have been working on updating and renovating the last few years.

Please check back with us in June and we would love to give you a tour of the newly renovated pet-friendly Terrace rooms at the charming and quaint Redstone Inn.

Redstone Inn is a wonderful getaway from the craziness of life. It's a place to unplug as there is no cell service. (There is wi-fi.) The staff is very friendly and the rooms are extremely clean. We took a sleigh ride and it was beautiful! If you like a unique and historical hotel, the Redstone Inn is for you.

My sweetheart and I stayed at Redstone Inn Dec 28 - 31. It is so cozy, quiet and comfortable. We had enjoyed an overnight visit nearly a year earlier, and decided to enjoy part of a long weekend there before heading to Taos. He and I had only booked one night, but after our first leisurely day strolling in the snow and then warming ourselves by the fire, we decided to stay until New Year's Day. We spent four glorious, relaxing days reading, playing chess and visiting with the staff and other guests. The staff is friendly and warm, and absolutely delightful to chat with. And their breakfasts are the best!
The place could use some updating - some rooms are drafty, and hot water is not guaranteed for your morning shower. The carpets throughout were in need of serious vacuuming, the kind where you move furniture and get along the baseboards. And do watch out for ice! I took a hard fall and ended up bruising my hip and whacking the side of my face. :-(
The restaurant and grill's menus have a wide range of choices for most appetites. Breakfasts were our favorites. Dinners are good. Kick @$$ Bloody Marys!
We will be back!

Room Tip: Watch your step and look out for ice!

We stayed here for a wedding in July and enjoyed the outdoor property immensely. The pool looked really nice and was enjoyed in the sunshine. We had breakfast at the inn, which was fantastic (juevos rancheros - yum!). We also had dinner at the wedding and that food was fantastic as well.

The decor is quaint throughout the inn which works with the history of the town. My parents had a room with one double bed and it was tiny and dated. My husband and I booked a dog friendly room which had two double beds and was huge. However, the few dog friendly rooms which weren't so nice. We were on the ground floor (basement) level which was great for doggy access to grass, but the room was dark, smelled of mildew and had a stained carpet. The town is great and there really isn't any other option for hotels. We also stayed in the Redstone campground the night before and it was gorgeous!
