This place is a real gem. The springs and staff are great. It is quiet, and clothing optional, and just like at a doctor's office, it is very inappropriate to have any lewd looks, comments or behavior. The locals and staff are very strict about this. Go to Ouray Hot Springs up the road if you want to be noisy or boisterous.

While Ouray has a public pool hot spring, we went to Orvis just up the road before entering Ridgway. There are a number of different outdoor pools of various temps that were all stone lined and much more natural than the public pool in Ouray. Orvis also has some indoor pools but we wanted the view. Orvis is clothing optional - some people will be in swim suits and some not. The larger indoor pool is clothing required but everyone was outside. The changing rooms have hot showers with a lovely mint/rosemary body wash for getting clean before entering the pools. They also have complimentary tea. Bring your own towel for sure and a bathrobe & flipflops if desired. It was chilly in late March so we wish we had bathrobes. It's $14/day so you can come back.

Orvis Hot Springs and hotel are such a nice change of pace. They are set in the beautiful valley leading up to Ouray. I love lounging in the hot pools and looking out at the vista. We also stayed in a room. The rooms are large & clean. The bed was very comfortable. The shared bath did not seem to be a problem as we had expected. I love these hot Springs. They are such a nice throw back to the good old days.

Oh my. The freedom to choose to leave your suit at home and be in the relaxing water for a 30 minute soak. Tremendous experience EVERY time I go. Thank you Orvis!

Orvis is my favorite hot spring in the state of Colorado. I have been a regular visitor for over 20 years and drive 100 miles just to go there. A camping spot gives you 24 hour access to the ponds for some awesome quiet time after the public leaves at 9:00pm. Breathing those lithium vapors put's you into a relaxed tranquil place... Wonderful for Mind, Body and Soul. For the Native American's the Orvis spring was considered "Healing Waters" and it truly is in many ways. You owe it to yourself. Make a day of it and you won't regret it.
