“Telluride to Gateway - Great Ride”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2012

Just returned from our second San Juan Hut Systems trip. We had a great ride from Telluride to Gateway and would highly recommend it. Route was fun, huts in great condition, and good food. Thanks SJHS! The single track route on day 5 was the highlight. Other recommendation is to pack light.

“Trip of a lifetime”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2012

If you are a mountain biker with a sense of adventure, this is the ultimate trip for you.

It is not a 5 star hotel. It is not easy. It is not for the weak.

The sights were unbelievable. The huts were well stocked. The routes were easy to follow.

Don't believe the bad reviews..this was AWESOME.

“Great exerience - Telluride to Moab bike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2012

Traveled with 5 other cyclists on the San Juan hut to hut route. Huts were in good condition at each stop, well stocked and with plenty of water. Compost toilets were clean. We had no problem finding the cabins. The selection of food was good - eggs and bacon at each cabin, and plenty of canned food. A myriad of nutrition bars, powdered Gatorade and goo. Plenty of dried fruit and cereal. I have five recommendations: 1. Start your rides early. Very early, before 7AM on hot days. 2. Bring a raincoat. We were rained on three days. It's mountain weather. 3. Stay ahead of your thirst. I was skeptical a bit, but realized quickly that I needed 4-5 liters of water daily on the bike. 4. Coordinate beer deliveries to the cabins. Nothing like a cold beer after a hot ride. 5. Finally, don't pack extra weight. Wash your extra shirt and shorts daily and hang them on the clothesline to dry. All in all, an epic trip, very well organized, beautiful scenery. But it's physical; get in shape.

Ridgway Hut was the grand adventure from getting in, the hut, variable Spring conditions to getting out. Staff great. Bring toilet paper!

“Burn Hut was really cool”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2012

.On February 2nd, 7 us skied up to the Burn Hut. One fellow had a technical issue with his skis & turned back early. The rest of us had a moderate, yet enjoyable, challenge of skiing the 6 or so miles, up a well defined route (most of the way), while carrying our packs of necessary & indulgent items. The hut was clean & efficient, sort of rustic Bauhaus in its design. I attributed our group's completely positive dynamic to the structural integrity of the cabin as well as its placement within the aspen forest environment found in this part of the Uncompahgre Nationall Forest. Our touring ski day trip between nights was spectacular (if you're into cross-country skiing like we are -3 of our group hit the slopes, where they said they made some nice turns, & me & 2 went off touring). Getting reservations set up for our 2 night stay was easy. Getting waivers signed & scanned/faxed back was the trickiest part. Because I'm lazy & forgetful, I had the hardest time mailing the key back after the trip but they were cool about it. :. didn't charge me 10bucks for sending it back 10 days late like a note in the info says they will. Very fun time had by all. And done on a dime - 25bucks a nite per person to be precise. Highly recommended for the above average athletically able, moderately adventurous nature lover. Plus they're dog friendly!

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed 'our backyard' as much as we do! Our huts provide access to terrain that suits all levels of skiing and varying snow activities. Enjoy the backcountry...enjoy your public lands!
