Columbine Restaurant is located on the Rifle Creek Golf Course. To get there, go north on Hwy 13 from Rifle, turn right on HWY 325, drive about two miles until you see the golf course on the right. (Our GPS wanted us to turn too soon and never could find it.)
We thought we might need reservations on a Sunday for lunch. No reservations were needed -- in fact, the restaurant was nearly empty on the gorgeous mid-September Sunday we were there. We also wondered if it would be a fancy "country club" restaurant. We found it is very casual -- a few people came in wearing golf togs, had a beer, and watched football.
The best part about Columbine Restaurant is the setting and the view. It overlooks the lovely golf course. There is a deck for dining al fresco.
The food was OK. The salad bar was limited. Service was slow and inatttentive -- especially given the few patrons on the day we were there.
BTW - our favorite discovery in Rifle was Vallarta Restaurant on W. 3rd St. We loved it ! Highly recommended. See separate review.
