We enjoyed our stay here, The breakfasts were wonderful. We especially loved the homemade yogurt, but everything was delicious. The room was very comfortable. The views of the mountains were gorgeous. It was entertaining to watch the goats and the chickens, The goats were quite friendly, and loved to be petted.

We found the Mountain Goat Lodge by searching for an affordable house big enough to hold our family reunion of 20 people, in a location with plenty of activities to do. The Mountain Goat Lodge fit our criteria and exceeded our expectations. When we arrived Gina ran us through the rules, which were not many. After that we were able to have a unique time with all the family relaxing in one place. Every family had their own bathroom and private space but also got together in the common areas. The kids had a ball milking goats and and exploring the property. The grown-ups enjoyed the amazing views from the living room and deck every morning and night. We had activities throughout the day like visiting the hot springs, and horseback riding. We opted to have Gina make us a breakfast which was a fun experiece. We got to try fresh goat's milk and other gourmet items like herbed eggs and piping hot cinnamon buns. The linens they use are amazing and half of us bought some to be shipped home. I'd have to say the view from the deck was the most pristine, beautiful view we have seen anywhere, and we have travelled a lot of places. We will be returning the next time we have a reunion in Colorado.

This is a beautiful log cabin that was built as a bed and breakfast. It is outside of Salida and the views from the back deck and deck from our room was beautiful- we watched a storm come over the mountains while sitting on the back deck enjoying a bottle of wine and reading! The goats are one reason we chose to stay here- just for something different. I must say they added to the fun experience! Watching them during milking and just being goats in the morning was priceless. The rooms are comfortable and well thought out and we were welcomed and felt like part of the home from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was exceptional- they really cater to their guests and make them feel pampered!
I have to say that the property is undergoing some changes and I would love to visit again when it's all done to see how it turned out!

Room Tip: The back rooms would be quieter since the property is on a main road.

My boyfriend is a huge goat fan and we came to the lodge for a romantic weekend getaway, but mostly to get some hands-on experience before deciding for sure if we'd like to have goats ourselves. I'd never been to this part of Colorado before and knew it would be pretty, but I wasn't prepared for how absolutely gorgeous the area is. The lodge is situated to take full advantage of the natural beauty, and it was delightful to just sit in our room or out on the deck and enjoy the scenery. But, I can't say enough about how wonderful and personalized the service was. The proprietress, Gina, gave us a wonderfully warm welcome and was so much fun to talk with throughout the weekend. We took the goat husbandry class, which I highly recommend to anyone interested in owning these adorable animals. Gina is a font of information and she was great about making sure we got to experience all the aspects of host ownership we were interested in - including making our own fresh goat mozzarella! And, speaking of the goats, they are beautiful, super friendly, and incredibly intelligent. We were captivated and entertained by the goats all weekend long (guests are welcome to hike around the property and interact with the goats all they'd like). We loved everything about our stay and can't wait to go back again! Thanks so much for the great memories!

Only come here if you like animals. We did not bring any having come from UK, but other people's dogs were well behaved. The room was clean with hardly any evidence of previous canine occupants. We asked for an upstairs quiet room, and that is what we got. The property was built as a b&b and all the upstairs rooms have small balconies. Ours had a wonderful view to the mountains. Room was of average size, clean, and comfortable. 10pm to 7am is quiet time, and it was, with a little noise from the nearby road, but it does get noisy after 7am with the animals outside, and people talking downstairs. Breakfast on our first morning was a little limited in choice, but that on the second morning was excellent, with a cooked dish of local ingredients. Would be a great place to take children. About 10 mins drive into Salida for evening meal

From the genuine hospitality to the incredible lodging and views, the Mountain Goat Lodge is an excellent choice for overnight or extended stay. Our visit was saturated with memorable moments with the innkeeper, the animals and the land. Gina's perfect coffee and breakfast was a dreamy start to a fun filled and educational day. We learned more about goats and the care involved in one afternoon than reading a dozen books would provide. And who knew making cheese could be so easy and enjoyable?
The view from our room was breath taking and the weather allowed for us to open the doors and windows and take in all the surroundings. Comfortable sheets, nice mattress, clean room with satellite TV and a respect for your privacy added up to a great place to stay. With the additional amenities of the hot tub, gorgeous deck, proximity to so many interesting things and of course, THE GOATS, this lodge is top shelf all the way. A social environment with lots of choices, I recommend this as a top shelf experience all around!

Our stay at Mountain Goat Lodge included a cheese making class that resulted in a molded chevre and a cheddar that is presently aging in our wine cellar. We ate the chevre with sun dried tomato spread on a picnic the next night. Our stay also included a comfortable bed and a tasty breakfast which included fresh ingredients from the chickens and goats who lived behind the lodge.
