“Great stay”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Gina and D'Arcy are great hosts. Very knowledgeable about the area and vey helpful in ensuring we knew all the features of our camper. The food, scenery, serenity, breakfast (make sure you bring an appetite, the breakfasts are really delicious and filling), and lodging met all our expectations. Once again, thank you Gina and D'Arcy for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Campers are a great choice for one to two people. No Wifi or TV in the campers so enjoy the serenity...

This was our second stay at Mountain Goat Lodge. This time, we were traveling with our grown daughter. We stayed in the Oberhasli Suite, which was clean and more than roomy for the three of us. There was an awesome bonfire with s'mores that evening. In the morning, a full breakfast that included yogurt and cheese made fresh from the goats' milk! My daughter and I got to try our hand at milking and Gina gave us a tour of the new geodesic greenhouse and "RV Park" she installed on the hill. Next time, we plan on staying several days so that we can really relax!

Room Tip: If you are traveling with children, the Oberhasli Suite was very roomy with two separate bedrooms.

The bed and breakfast seemed too good to be true, the stay exceeded our expectations. It was my wife and I first time traveling with our two month old and two large dogs. The rooms were so clean it seemed like we were the first ones to have pets in the room. The off leash area is the size of most dog parks. The house is spacious and open we felt like we were at home. We stayed in the Princeton room the view was amazing. Breakfast was great yogurt freashly made. Our only complaint was after spending a good part of the night star watching, both my wife and I wanted bag the roster that seemed to have a five minute snooze button starting at dawn, but that's part of staying on a farm which also brought back great memories.

Thank you for such a great review - we have had some roosters comments before...funny how you don't even notice it when you live here! Part of the ambiance I guess!
We are really trying to appeal to guests that are travelling with their pets - so you really hit the nail on the head - we have a big off-leash area, as well as 20 acres to roam on leash, and we enjoy offering all our rooms and trailers for pets. So glad you came and enjoyed!

I spent two nights in one of the trailers and had a marvelous, peaceful, restorative retreat. It was quiet and beautiful setting. The goats were just plain fun to hang out with and watch. The main lodge was well kept, inviting and comfortable. The breakfasts were quite good, with variety and filling.

There is a lot to keep you busy in the valley or hiking in the high country.

I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: I liked the trailers for privacy, but the rooms also looked very nice. The beds were comfortable.

Green Features: All of the scraps were fed to the goats and chickens, so that's pretty darned green.

Glad you enjoyed your peaceful stay in the retro trailer park area. Being new, we are just having a lot of fun with them. They will only be offered in the summer months, so do come back and try the lodge rooms - for a bit more luxury!
We are also happy to share the goats with all of our guests- they are really special and it is so nice when people get a dose of 'goat love".

This was our second stay at Mountain Goat Lodge and this time we brought our 8 year old granddaughter. She absolutely loved it and the animals. Gina and her son were kind enough and let the kids watch the goats get milked and let the kids have a turn which they loved!
The breakfast was awesome!

We missed out on staying in the inn, but were able to stay in a new "retro" camper. This is a new addition to the Mountain Goat Lodge lineup and was so fun. We stayed up late visiting with the neighbors, enjoying the views. Once they get the trees trimmed a little more, the views will be wonderful:). The breakfast was fantastic and the hostess very gracious. We would stay again, but, being just a little older than 20!, we're hoping they put an additional mattress on top of the thin one provided in the camper - my old bones didn't handle it as well, but it was quirky, fun, and totally worth it.

Green Features: The hostess makes her own cheese and yogurt from her goats, and grows many of her own herbs and veggies. The breakfast was fantastic & so are the soaps she also makes :)

THANK YOU for taking the time to write an interesting and wonderful review. I am working on getting some different mattresses in the campers other than the factory installed ones. As for your comments about trimming the trees - I don't know if I can do that, but will give it some serious thought. (our trees are such a precious commodity in the high desert). We appreciate your good nature and spirit of adventure and welcome you back any time possible!

My children and I stayed here for two nights and we all loved it. We were warmly welcomed from the moment we set foot inside. The chickens, goats and llama are all so much fun to watch. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are many things to keep you busy during your stay. Our breakfasts both days were delish and we couldn't have expected much better. The only negative I would mention would be the highway noise but at night it's a lightly traveled road and was not an issue. I would love to stay here again.
