The palace hotel is beautiful, unique, & cozy! The owners are very welcoming & take a lot of pride in their hotel, which shows. The palace is located in downtown Salida, & only a few steps away from the river! Great location!

We spent one night in this beautifully renovated hotel and can't wait to go back again. Our room was air conditioned, comfortable, clean and well equipped with internet access, a flat screen television, small refrigerator, coffee pot and dishes. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. A wonderful breakfast of fresh muffins, juice and granola/yogurt parfait was delivered to our room. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Salida. It is located near the Arkansas river and there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Our suite was on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet and comfortable.

Room Tip: A room on the first floor has fewer stairs to climb - there is no elevator in the building

Wonderful room, great old hotel! The hotel is right on the main street & walking distance to everything. Our suite was on the 2nd floor (203), it was very comfortable & really clean. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to family/friends & we look forward to going back!

The staff was friendly and helpful. The management provided us a bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary and each employee we saw wished us a happy anniversary. Every aspect of the room was lovely, well appointed, and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. A real coffee pot versus small one-cuppers was great. The continental breakfast was excellent and it was wonderful to have it delivered to our door. People offering us cookies within 10 minutes of arriving was a delight. Can't beat the hotel's location. Even being right in town, it was very quiet at night. The only slightly negative comment was we expected a better view from our room based on the website. Other rooms may be different. We highly recommend the Palace Hotel!

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms may have the better views.

Old town feel and old town charm. Lovely old but remodeled hotel. I can't speak of the other rooms but ours was clean, comfortable and inviting. As read in some of the other reviews, there are 47 steps to the 3rd floor and if you are not accustomed to the altitude, it does make for quite a trek up, lol. We didn't mind, just stop and catch your breath. There are a few "rules" that we found a bit ridiculous, like you can only wash clothes between 9am and 9pm. Well, most of the time, we were out of the room until 8 or 9pm that evening. The staff was very nice. The owners are a little quirky but overall I believe they are only trying to protect their investment. The location cannot be beat!

Room Tip: No elevator. If you have difficulty getting up the stairs, this hotel is not for you.

I had a hard time matching the positive reviews I had read about the Palace Hotel with the reality of our one-night stay. The hotel is not just old, its shabby. The room was cheerless and so dusty that my allergies kept me from a good night's sleep. There are lots of little "rules" including what color washcloth to use (really!). The towels have a strong odor of Clorox.

The Palace Hotel was fully renovated a little over a year ago. Since it was originally built in 1909 that does make it old. Most folks who choose to stay in a historic boutique hotel like that. Your suite included a beautiful antique red velvet sofa and a large Albert Bierstadt print in an ornate antique gold frame. Shabby?
Our suites are cleaned with "Young Living" essential oil cleaning products and personally inspected by a staff person and/or the ownership prior to a guest checking in. We are very particular about appearance and cleanliness.
The "colored wash cloth" is an industry standard not a Palace rule.
A visit to our web site gives a glimpse of the variety of the suites; each individually decorated with many one of a kind antiques.

The owners took real care to upgrade this old hotel to be both comfortable and convenient, and historically appropriate. I really enjoyed staying in this 1908 "Palace". The furnishings were all very comfortable, and fit the style of the hotel. The people were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was lovely and beautifully presented. My family really loved this place.
